Default Lakers Sign Johnathan Williams to Two-Way Contract

EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Johnathan Williams to a two-way contract, it was announced today. In a related move, the Lakers have requested waivers on forward Travis Wear.

Williams (6-9, 230) played in all six preseason games for the Lakers, averaging 6.8 points (.516 FG%) and 4.3 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game.

Per NBA rules, teams are permitted to have up to two players under two-way contracts on their roster at any given time, in addition to their 15-man regular season roster. The Lakers roster remains at 16, including two two-way players.

    Way to go JWIII!

    This is wonderful news.

Great kid, great Zag, will very much miss his thunder flush dunks from underneath this year.

Looks like Joe Young signed the Lakers 2nd Two-way contract per the LA Times story. As Norvell has the other Two-way contract and As JWill appears to be playing for the Rockets Summer League team, I assume he must have declined the offer?

Quite honestly the best thing to happen to JW3 is to get out of that dysfunctional operation. He never fit in over there this year because he plays too much like a team player. The Rockets will end up signing him to a 2 way imho.

Israel isn’t a great domestic league but it is a EuroCup participant so he will have ample opportunity to show his stuff. He seems like a guy who could climb up to a EuroLeague club in a couple seasons.
