Austin Daye with Umana Reyer Venezia

Austin named MVP of Gameday 2 of the BCL: https://sportando.basketball/en/aust...gue-gameday-2/

Wow! Check out that stat line for Austin! Box Score

Daye was unstoppable in the game

Austin Daye didn’t cross a finish line on Wednesday night after leading Umana Reyer Venezia to their latest drama-filled victory in the Basketball Champions League, yet it sure felt like he’d been in a very long race.

The sight of players bending over to catch their breath or dragging their weary bodies to the bench during timeouts in the Italian side’s 111-104 triumph over UNET Holon, a game that needed two overtimes, was reminiscent of the game played against Banvit almost exactly one year before, a 108-101 triple-overtime win for Venezia.

“I was dead tired after regulation,” Daye said of Wednesday’s win, “and then to add another 10 minutes to the game, it was a marathon.”

"Veteran forward Austin Daye has an opt-out in his contract with Italian club Reyer Venezia and could return to the NBA, according to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando. Daye, 31, was named Italian league MVP in 2019. He has been in talks with an NBA team, per Carchia, and can opt out of his contract in Italy on June 30. Day is 6-foot-11 and spent the early part of his career with the Detroit Pistons, who drafted him with the No. 15 pick in 2009. He has also spent time with the Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks."

"A report last month indicated that Daye had talked to an NBA team and was considering exercising the out clause in his contract before a June 30 deadline. However, perhaps in part because of the uncertainty surrounding the NBA’s calendar, Daye has opted to remain with Reyer Venezia, where he’ll continue to play a major role."

Despite reportedly receiving some interest from NBA teams, forward Austin Daye has decided to remain in Italy and will sign …
