Default David Stockton to Medi Bayreuth in Germany

    From Eurobasket:
Michael Stockton has been a main stay easyCredit BBL player for years having played with BG Karlsruhe, the MHP Riesen and BG Goettingen and now his brother David will enter the league and dazzle with his stellar point guard abilities. David Stockton (180-PG-91, college: Gonzaga) is a 27 year old 180cm point guard form Spokane, Washington that played at Gonzaga (NCAA) and brings 8 games of NBA experience with Sacramento and Utah and also played in the G-League, Croatia and New Zealand. "We have got a classical point guard. He has the abilities to make his teammates better, but can also score. He has a high basketball IQ and fighting mentality. He is a huge enrichment with his abilities", stressed head coach Raoul Korner. Last season he played with the Reno Bighorns (NBA G League) plaing 38 games averaging 16.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.3apg, 1.7spg, FGP: 47.4%, 3PT: 40.5%, FT: 86.4%, in Mar.'18 signed at Utah Jazz (NBA) playing 5 games averaging 2.4ppg. "I was looking for a professional atmosphere where my family would feel comfortable. I also wanted a team that was competitive and had a great fan base. After talking to coach Korner, it made my decision to come easy. I am excited to play for Bayreuth", stressed David Stockton.

In the play-offs the team was eliminated by fifth-seeded Oldenburg. However, the placement of the club qualified Bayreuth for the 2017–18 Basketball Champions League which would be the first European campaign for the club. With an 8–6 record in the regular season, Bayreuth advanced to the play-offs were the team eliminated Turkish side Beşiktaş in the eight-finals. Thanks ZN,

Great pickup by Bayreuth and great choice by David!

Germany has always appeared to be a great place to play Basketball.

He'll have to brush up on his Wagner....

3 hours drive to Prague or Frankfurt, ahh to be in the middle of Europe.

Good for him! Got to think that this will be a pay raise.

A pay raise from the G league, yes. But he was to be due 1.5MM with the Jazz if he stuck with them. This would be a fraction of that. But no one was expecting him to stay with the Jazz.

This will be an interesting test for Stockton. The BBL is a solid but not top tier league but getting better. Medi is one of the better clubs in the BBL. Medi also played in the FIBA Champions League last year as well, a third tier pan-European league. It’s about where I’d expect him to be and good spot to prove he can play at a higher level and maybe move up. Maybe a little lower level to the clubs Pangos & NWG started their careers at. He will also get to hang with his brother who has been one of the better PGs in the BBL the last few years.

He should enjoy living in Bavaria. He is about 1.5 hours from historic Nuremberg and 45 minutes from Cheb, CZ

We lived in this vicinity for three years and they have excellent beer and schnitzel and they make the best soups...

Also the several German crystal factories are in Neustadt an der Waldnaab when they also have exhibits and glass blowing shows.

Seems David's stay with team may be a short one.
