SPOKANE, Wash. Ė Gonzaga baseball senior first baseman Jake Vieth has been named to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings Division I Gold Glove Team, the American Baseball Coachesí Association announced Wednesday. Vieth is the first Bulldog in program history to be awarded the Gold Glove since the awardís inception in 2007.

Vieth started 56 games for the Bulldogs registering 414 putouts, 36 assists and no errors for a perfect fielding percentage. His 414 putouts led the West Coast Conference.

Behind the plate, Vieth was one of Gonzagaís top threats, finishing the season hitting .302 and with a .505 slugging percentage for 61 hits, 36 RBIs and 35 runs. The Tacoma, Wash. native also claimed the team lead in homeruns this season with 10, including two homers in Gonzagaís 17-2 rout over top-seeded Pepperdine in the WCC Tournament Championship in May.

Vieth was also the most patient Zag at the plate, finishing the season with 36 walks and a .429 on-base percentage, both team-highs.

Additionally, NLI signee Josh Bristyan of Paradise Valley Community College was also honored as he was named to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Div. II Gold Glove Team. This marks the second time in as many years that Bristyan has picked up Gold Glove honors; this season, he led the NJCAA with 178 assists and posted 112 putouts on the year. Bristyan posted a .976 fielding percentage in 59 games during the 2018 season.

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coachesí committees at each level: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division and High School.
