I know this isn't the correct forum but it can be moved...It appears that GU is in the finals and will play either LMU or Pepperdine!!! Anyone else following and have any more information?

Yeah so how it works is it’s double elimination. The Zags have not lost yet in the WCC Tourney, and they will face either lmu or Pepperdine which will obviously already have a loss. We just need to win one time to move onto the NCAA Tournament. Just one!!!! Go zags!

The Waves beat LMU in the nightcap, so they play the Zags again for the NCAA berth. They have to beat the Zags twice while Gonzaga just needs to win once.

Such an accomplishment bc much harder for cold weather teams. Down here, the teams are outside practicing in 65 degree weather on Jan 10 or whenever semester begins, GU has to practice inside, just not the same.

Makes what they're doing all the more impressive.

Check the Schomburg Hall Forum, Bogo. TerpZag has been doing a great job all year of reporting on the baseball team.

There should be a video link to the game this afternoon on both the GoZags site as well as the WCC TV site.

Imagine that the NCAA payouts for baseball are a little less then they are
for basketball’s 1.6M per game played but still one heck of an accomplishment!!!

Oregon St. and Washington finished 2nd and 3rd in the Pac 12 this year. OSU has probably been the best program in the Pac going back over the last decade or so. There are definitely advantages to being in a warmer weather location, but it's not the be all and end all.

Baseball playoff format is totally different than basketball tourney. Start w/ Regionals, 4 teams in each w/ double elimination. 16 teams host Regionals. After that 8 teams host Super Regionals, each has two teams playing a best of 3 series. College World Series is 8 teams going to Omaha, double elimination again until there are only 2 teams left and then they play a best 2 out of 3 series.

You are right seacatfan. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. It is true that Oregon State has been one of the best teams in the country for quite a while.

So, have the regionals been announced? Am I just in the wrong thread now?
