Here's a link to the article in the Spokesman with an interview with Few:

Rui Hachimura wasn’t the only one getting grilled by Japanese television crews Tuesday. Bulldogs head coach Mark Few and assistant Tommy Lloyd had to parry some questions about their star forward.

Mark Few: “We want to have a great regular season, we want to win the conference and the conference tournament, and then hopefully work our way through the NCAA Tournament and get back to a Final Four, and see if we can finish off that last step and win a national championship. That’s the goal. Obviously, Rui is going to be a huge part of that. The next step for him now is to take on a major role, and night-in and night-out be a guy we can count on.”
This is a Blanchette column more about Rui and the media:

On Tuesday, crews from Japan’s six national television channels – 20 people in all – descended on McCarthey Athletic Center to explore Ruiworld.
“When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.”

Just the other day, the JBA ran a full-page ad in Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper, to tout the World Cup games with Hachimura’s picture underneath the declaration “HOPE is coming back.”

At least they passed on “Savior of Japanese Basketball!”
For those curious to know what the ad looked like. The large text at the top does say "Hope is coming back."
(希望 - kibou - "Hope", が、帰ってくる - ga, kaettekuru - "is coming back / is returning")

Next game is 29 June 2018 vs Australia. National team is winless in pool play.

That’s a great cover photo. Thanks for sharing.

“No team in the country has a better winning percentage against power conference teams since 2017 than Gonzaga... the Zags are playing above average teams in the best leagues in the country and winning 78% of the time.”

Very cool. So awesome having a growing japanese fan base interested in the Zags. Would be awesome to keep that pipeline open over the years.

Not to be a debbie-downer here, but is there much bandwidth in the Japanese pipeline? Rui seems like an exception, especially since he's only the 5th Japanese-born NCAA basketball player in history (or something to that effect).

I don't think that Japan is the hotbed of basketball for a " pipeline" to exist.

I took it to mean a pipeline to Japanese interest in Gonzaga. It would be fun to be the national team of Japan. Certainly not for players.

Per these tweets (in Japanese), video footage from the Japanese media day will be broadcast tonight and tomorrow morning on Japanese TV, in conjunction with the official roster announcement for the June 29 game vs. Australia that happened earlier today. Might leak on to youtube in the upcoming days.

He has been dominating japanese league, and he has become a naturalized few mouth ago. He would help national team like Ira.

Did he marry a japanese woman like Ira to become naturalized?

No, he married an American, but he named his son japanese name "海渡(Kaito)".
