Interesting. Weird how a lot of people have been saying they dont allow Charter flights, i wonder where that came from?

Use of Private planes vs Charter flights is the confusion

Noticed it’s taken a turn. Still 70 and 63 though. Hopefully no rain.

My impression was that GU leases their own plane, a benefactor makes one available, or something to that effect.

sounds right....its still a private plane. If it wasn't a good deal for GU they'd just lease another plane is my guess.

My recollections in reading the back story match yours.

    Close. I believe it's benefactor(s) .... i.e. plural.

Was told in Vegas we spend about $750-800K more on charter vs commercial flights per season.

That's interesting because I watched the PK80 game between Gonzaga and Ohio State this weekend, and Dan Dakich and Jeff Goodman spent a good 5 minutes talking about how the Pac 12 flies commercial, that Gonzaga flies charter, and that it is one recruiting advantage that GU has despite their league affiliation. So if the Pac 12 indeed made these changes, they are doing a poor job of publicizing them. I don't think highly of Jeff Goodman, but he is someone who should know this information. It was made pretty clear during the broadcast that if you went to GU over a Pac 12 team, travel was going to be a bonus.

I have not seen the inside of GU's charter, but it is to my understanding that no one needs to worry about being 6-9, 260lbs. That's part of the advantage of riding in these kind of planes as opposed to Alaska Airlines, SW, whatever.

    +1

I don't know if I have heard or read a single media person say anything other than that the Pac 12 has to fly commercial. At least when it comes to basketball.

Then again, millions of TV viewers don't get the Pac 12 network.

It is interesting if these changes were instituted, why hasn't "the word" gotten out, because it's something that even gets mentioned during Pac 12 broadcasts on ESPN.

Weird. News travels slowly I guess.

Whatever the case, I'm glad GU has access to that plane more then ever before.

Is the PAC-12 chartering commercial airlines’ planes? Perhaps that’s the nuance that makes both things be “true.”

I flew back on Alaska after a WSU loss in the PAC 12 tournament. The players were on the same plane, most stuck in middle seats.

I am always seeing Oregon State and Washington State players on commercial flights all parts of the year. Maybe use the public terminal to board a charter?

If it gets us top 100 recruits, it pays for itself in tournament wins.
