    Default St Marys Schedule Upgrade

Outside of California even -- is the pressure is paying off?

Viva Las Vegas! LSU basketball coach Will Wade adds neutral-site game with St. Mary's

Before that Shaq and pistol Pete? Geez. Yeah fine I guess, but itís like another Georgia... progress yes, still not good

To be fair, there are some parts of California that are farther away from Moraga than Las Vegas

Will Wade is a great young coach, and they have a really good recruiting class coming in. LSU is on the climb.

    20. LSU Tigers

Will Wade might have the surprise of the 2018-19 season. Yes, the Tigers finished 8-10 in the SEC and lost to Stephen F. Austin and other nontournament teams. But Tremont Waters (15.9 PPG, 6.0 APG) is a scary talent on a young team that should improve this offseason. Plus, Waters will have a five-star frontcourt with incoming freshmen Nazreon Reid and Emmitt Williams, the top stars of a recruiting class ranked fifth on ESPN.com.

Sounds like a pretty solid opponent to me.

Are we sure it's not La Sierra University (Riverside, CA)? That would be so funny/typical if it was.

LSU RPI was #66 last year per Kenpom as compared, to say, the huskies, which were #98.

    Nice game for the Gaels.

I'm sure Bennett knows as does administration at St Marys. And so they take steps to improved their lot. Sounds like a good game. We keep our side of the street clean...and we shouldn't be spending time on theirs. Gratifying to see SMC trying to improve their schedule.

Yeah, no need for snark here. Let's give credit where credit is due. It's a 560 mile drive to LV from Moraga (90 minute flight, 9 hour drive), about the distance from Dallas to El Paso. By comparison, it's a 10 hour drive from Dallas to Omaha...660 miles.

fine game. not a headliner. hope they schedule some better ones, too. but clearly better than any game they played OOC this season.

That is much better. It won't happen overnight. I am very happy the Gaels are doing better.

For what it’s worth, nbc has LSU 24 in their preseason poll.

To chip in, for what it's worth...

Santa Clara gets USC in Leavey, and is playing in the "Vancouver Showcase", a four-team OOC tournament with Texas A&M, Washington, and Minnesota.

We all (SCU fans) had hoped Sendek would have us farther along by now (to say he's underwhelmed given the huge budget increases and latitude he was given is an understatement, but it has only been two seasons), but one power conference team coming to Leavey plus two neutral site games against high majors is a good step. Our OOC performance and subsequent RPI were egregious, and a lot of fans and donors are QUITE unhappy...

SMC Is getting dangerously close to a respectable schedule - just added a neutral game vs. New Mexico

Neutral - LSU & New Mexico
Road - New Mexico St, Western Kentucky
    Home - Cal, Harvard, Bucknell

Wish we had this last year.....

Gaels add a 4-team invitational in Vegas to the schedule
SMC Opens up with Utah State and then will play either Arizona St or Mississippi State

This added to the already scheduled games:
Neutral - LSU & New Mexico
Road - New Mexico St, Western Kentucky
    Home - Cal, Harvard, Bucknell

As an SMC fan, this is the first time in 9-10 years that I can say that I am happy with the schedule and the excuses go out the window. Just wish Bennett would have stepped up over the past 6-7 years. I know it is almost impossible for us to get home games against quality opponents and I appreciate the willingness to get creative and schedule the 4 neutral court games in vegas.
