OT: Advice needed?

Mods, please indulge for an evening before moving to the proper forum.

As it turns out, yours truly will be traveling sans tickets to Las Vegas for the WCC semis and finals. I would love to hear from those who have been there and done that on how they acquired tickets hopefully at a reasonable rate.

Also, feel free to let me know if you can help directly. I’m looking for at least 2 tickets and possibly 4.

I’m doing the exact same thing. I have been to most of the WCC tournaments in Vegas but have always bought tickets in advance. This year’s trip is last minute .. In years past, I recall that there have always been “game day” tickets sold at the arena as well as scalpers. I plan to buy from scalpers and am prepared to wait until after tip off to get a reasonable rate.
If anyone on this board has two or three seats to sell... I’d like in on that too.
PM me if any has line on tickets (after former1 gets his, of course)

Another note: in year's past, folks on this board have reported success in obtaining all-session tickets from the ticket offices of other schools (think bottom feeders) who don't sell their allotments to their own partisans. . .

Is that to imply that Pepperdine fans won't be seen in abundance in Vegas?

Shoot, they can't even draw 1500 to most of their home games.

Have a family member in past years has had an easy time getting tickets at bottom feeders, not this year. Seems they curtailed the practice. Has tried numerous schools.Best of luck.

I told my daughter about a month ago to call all the schools in the league not named GU or BYU & get on their waiting list.

San Diego called her back this A.M. & she got 2 all-session passes about 8 rows behind the bench.

I got calls back from Pacific & usf 3 yrs. ago but had all ready scored some tickets from The Orleans by then.

Not sure what some of these schools "drop dead" dates are for returning unsold tickets, but would get on the phone 1st thing in the morning.

You might try Craigs List in Spokane too. The first time we went to Vegas we got tickets from a fan here in town that decided not to go. He sold them to us for the same price he got them for from GU. Wish we were going again this year but ..... heading out for a 3+ week vacation in about an hour.

Very easy to buy/find tickets. No need to purchase all-session ticket packs unless you want to attend all the games.

Have been to (4) WCC Tournaments in Vegas -- this will be my 5th -- and never once purchased in advance.

Heck, I've been given free "all session" tickets following a BYU loss before. No joke.

The key to to wait outside, in the long corridor/hallway following games, and await the frustrated BYU fans. (or maybe SMC fans this yr)

I've have purchased Championship Game tickets for less than $20, amazing seats, etc.

I've also paid $120 when desperate one year, so...

I plan to do the same this year, and so will all of my buddies.

The stadium box office at the top of the stairs, at the end of the long corridor between the casino and the arena, will sell that days tickets starting at 9 a.m.. We have purchased in the past, but you have to be there early to get the tickets. The ticket prices are around $20 depending on location in the arena.

I get my tickets in advance as a booster but I don’t get very good seats. I have found that I can usually get some pretty good seats online for the championship game and then sell my other tickets. Last year they had a ticket exchange table set up so it was pretty easy to do that - my guess is that if you can’t get tickets directly from someone in the long hallway connecting the casino to the arena, you might go up the escalator and check the ticket exchange table.

Keep in mind that the ladies games are open seating, so it is first come first serve.

For the Men's games, the only games that will be sell-outs are the GU and BYU games. The rest of the games, will have lots of open seats, so you will have lots of choices of where to sit.

at every championship game I've been to in Vegas, I was able to bounce around the arena at will...

I will never forget, during our OT loss to SMC a handful of years ago, I sat in no less than 4 different sections. I was too anxious and needed to watch the game from new angles/perspectives.

Point is, you will have no issues finding tickets if you talk with fellow Zag fans, and make a few BYU or SMC friends along the way...

I’m not sure the “sell out” claim is a marketing ploy. Remember most seats are sold as full series packages. Some bitter fans just leave after their team is bounced and never bother reselling their tickets. So empty seats doesn’t mean they weren’t sold.

A sold ticket does not correlate to a "butt in the seat". The arena can only sell the seat once, it has no control over whether the purchaser of the ticket attends the event.

The last GU ladies home game was officially a "sell-out" meaning that tickets to all 6,000 seats were sold, yet there were several hundred unoccupied seats at the game. Does not mean the game was not a sell-out nor does it mean it was a "marketing ploy" just that the ticket to every seat was sold to someone.

One good thing from last year was the big screen above the scoreboard. While I won’t have great seats, the seats are all fairly decent in that arena because it isn’t huge. Now with the big screen, you really don’t miss much even sitting behind the basket.

Maybe, I am missing your point, and if so please clarify.

I typically buy full session tickets and usually attend most if not all of the individual sessions, no matter who is playing. My kids on the other hand pick and chose which sessions or partial sessions they want to attend. Sometimes, they will go to the Orleans to try and re-sell the tickets for the sessions they don't want to attend, other times the inconvenience is not worth what they could get re-selling the tickets. In that case, I take the tickets for the session and give them away if anybody is looking for tickets.

Everybody understands that not everybody who buys a ticket is going to attend the game, for whatever reason. So exactly who do you think is committing the ploy? When you have assigned seats (for the men's games) how does the arena determine exactly whose seat they can sell twice?

As a ticket purchaser, I have a right to attend any portion of any individual session that I have purchased a ticket for whether that is the first game, last game, last half of the last game, etc. I fully expect my seat to be available no matter when I chose to show up for the game.

For those of you who insinuate the arena or other entity are using a "ploy" for the ticket sales, how would you better address the issue?
