Default Serious Penalties Announced by NCAA vs. Pacific

"The men's basketball team at Pacific has been punished by the NCAA for academic and recruiting violations under former coach Ron Verlin. ... Done to show North Carolina how bad it could have been!

I don't expect more than a slap on the wrist, after all, 20+ years of academic fraud pales in light of what Pacific did! (What DID they do?)

I think Pacific should refuse to accept the judgement until the NCAA deals with UNC. I believe many courts would issue the order when they saw that UNC has been cheating for over 20 years, and has been changing the rules as they go, finally challenging whether the NCAA has any right to rule on academic violations.

If it doesn't apply to UNC, it shouldn't apply to Pacific.

CZF reality must be faced...UNC cheated their athletes from getting an education by allowing this travesty to continue for 20 years.
They acted as if nothing was wrong and played with ineligible players, won ACC titles and NCAA Championships!

MGK was stating what many of us feel that because UNC wins championships they will not be penalized any where near IF AT ALL what UOP just received.

They play in such a weak conference, no wonder they were cheating.

So how bad would they have been if they had followed the rules? It is one thing to cheat, but to cheat and still suck is just downright sad.

The only loser in this is Gonzaga because Pacific's RPI is going to plummet. Hope the NCAA doesn't get mad at North Carolina again because they are likely to take down a Big South team next.

Don't sleep on USF, bbz. Based on the NCAA's track record, they may just penalize the Dons for...well, being in San Francisco.

    It is amazing.

UNC, 20 years of violating the core element of "college athletics" - not requiring their players to actually be "in college" in the real sense, but nothing punishing them, yet.

But, god help you if you're the football coach who fronts a player money for a plane ticket to see a dying family member, or in some other way demonstrates some humanity .... http://fortune.com/2016/02/27/how-nc...llege-players/

Maybe we should just hang the banner, "National College Champions 2017" or something.

It's possible that the NCAA is so mad at UNC, they're threatening to take away USF's 1956 championship...Bill Russell and KC Jones got into Coit Tower without paying admission.
