It's as much mental as physical.

Zags have been blowing out WCC foes for years. I really don't recall fans calling for starters to sit out the entire 2nd half before this season. It's weird.

They're going at half-speed right now. And still kicking butt. Have them run wind-sprints after the game if you want.

The guys who hold the key to all our dreams this year are out there, against barely D-1 players, in a game we're winning by 28, at home, getting tangled in the post, fighting for rebounds. It's scary. And completely unnecessary.

I personally have been, just haven't posted on this board much before this year.

Doesn't much matter though. If something is a prudent decision, it's a prudent decision. I think this is.

To be fair Lon kruger does this a lot and ends up losing lots of games by doing this too early. I'm fine with doing it up 25-30 with 4 minutes but not with 10

This isn't exactly new in WCC games, but the fan reaction this year is. Why?

Yikes. Collins with another weird call against him. Probably a foul but that's a ways away from the hoop again

I came up with a good strategy. Start the 9-13 guys in the rotation. If the Zags get behind, then put in the starters. If the scrubs can handle business from the opening tip, you've removed all possibility of an injury to a starting caliber player.

Why is that relevant? Maybe folks just started realizing it. Maybe attention is greater on the team this year. Maybe we're getting out to big leads earlier in games this year, and winning by 30 instead of 20 this year, so it's more noticeable. And we just lost one of our rotation guys for a while in a 30-point game.

Every second on a basketball court carries inherent risk. Why take even one extra fraction of a percent of risk than we absolutely have to?

It's just not fair destroying the WCC this easily pretty much this entire season. I think the WCC needs to get together pick all the best players put them together on an All-Star team to play us every game from here on out

On the bright side: Zags 7 man rotation only yielded 4 turnovers tonight.

Rui and Alberts in the game ?

Our defense has been outstanding, USD hasn't faced anything like it this year. We are certainly not going half speed on defense.

I have never said one word about playing starters too late or not, but up 35 with 5 mins to go…why NOT at least put a couple bench guys in who would start at USD anyway?

Anyway, Silas has been rubbing and hold his jaw for past few possessions. Every chance he gets he's holding it.

Tough kid, it could be broken and bet Silas would continue to ball.

I just want someone to ask Coach Few about his philosophy here. Anyone? Please?

Like, if he's doing it so as not to embarrass the other team, I'm sorry, but that's wrong. Can't keep up with us, that's on USD, not our problem.

If he truly believes it has something to do with conditioning, let's hear about it. But if that's the case, why put Rui and Jones in there, but leave Perkins in?

Can the NCAA have a rule that some of our sophomore and junior recruiting prospects get to play in the game? At least then it's be closer. Maybe.

If nothing else, the longer our rotation guys are out there, the more chance someone on USD pulls a Grayson Allen out of pure frustration.

    Why risk it?
