Terrific game today vs. Lietuvos rytas, with Kevin's team taking the win 84-68, Kevin with 22 points on 6-11 three-point shooting,

Once KP starts hitting 3 pointers (which he has been recently) Zalgiris becomes a different team.

His confidence appears to be on the up. Perhaps he is playing a nit more relaxed than a month ago,

Note his +/- for the game against Lietuvos rytas was +24, by far the most on the team.

Kevin in an interview before today's noon Euroleague game at Real Madrid. Man! It would be great to see him have a terrific game!

Zalgris is #11 in the Euroleague standings to Real Madrid's #2. Looks like Kev will have his work cut out for him. Austin Daye and Elias Harris teams round out the bottom two spots in the standing.

    Kevin's current stats page

Shows his nationality as Slovenian. What's that about? He's averaging 8.1 points a game. Pretty good, considering his slow start at the beginning of the season.

Since Kevin also has a Slovenian passport, it's probably a plus, since there are some rules regarding the foreigners in European clubs and Pangos being a "European" helps when constructing a roster. What I dug up is this:

    * 12 Roster = 7 Foreigners, 5 Domestic Players

5 Home Grown Player, (at least three years from 14 to 20 year old in one of the domestic teams)

2 Non-Europe Passport player, (mostly USA) // Kevin being a Slovenian (as opposed to a Canadian) helps to leave one of these slots open

5 Europe & Cotonou Passport player

It is a huge advantage for Pangos to have the Slovenian passport. Every European league is a little different on the limitations of non-European passport holders but typically the imports need to be the best players on the team. The job opportunities open up immensely if you have a European passport. The pay opportunities increase as it is easier to find a contract with bigger and better budgeted teams. The Slovenian passport could be the sole reason Kevin is playing in the EuroLeague. He could very well be regulated to a lesser league (less pay) if he was relying only on a Canadian passport.

Any non-European will try to do this if they can. The Canadian Scrubb brothers play on British passports.
Many Americans have "sold themselves" for a Euro passport by pimping themselves out to their national team. It is rare to find a Euro (or Asian) national team that doesn't have a naturalized American as a star player (or sometimes an African). Lithuania and Serbia are about the only two I can think of.

Yep. Lithuania won't be doing this any time soon either, even though we are in desperate need of some good guards... It's just national pride I guess - many Lithuanians said they would stop supporting the national team if there was a naturalized player there. I know Serbians are very proud too in this regard.

A minute into the game, and Pangos sinks his first three-pointer! http://www.euroleague.net/main/resul...2016#!boxscore

Edited to add: Under four minutes in, Kev has 8 points! Keep on cookin', boy!

That first three was very deep too! Something like 25 feet.

Kevin just made another deep three. Bank-shot from 25 feet at the top of the key... It's probably his day

At the half, kevin has 16 points on 3-4 three-point shooting, a couple of rebounds and assists, a steal, and zero turnovers, with a Performance Index Rating of 17.

    Game's tied at 49-49.

He's doing great so far. But Zalgiris needs more production from other players as well. Kevin can't will them to a win by his own.

Off-topic: Real's Luka Doncic is such a great talent. 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in 20 minutes as a 17-year old.

With three minutes left in the third, Kevin has 19 points, but he's on the bench right now, which makes me very nervous.... Real Madrid leads it 71-64.

Real Madrid wins 96-91, Kev fouls out near the end of the game, ending up with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and just one turnover. Shoot! That game, against the #2 team at Euroleague, was winnable, and Kevin sure did what he could ....

Those Luka Doncic threes at the end were unbelievable. Very demoralizing too... This kid is the future of European basketball.

It's the Kevin Pangos show. 4/4 from three so far against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Where is that game being played, JStock? I saw Istanbul & wonder what security is like today.

ABDI IPEKCI ARENA (Istanbul). There weren't too many fans in the arena though. My guess is that they (fans) were either a little bit scared to come because of the recent events OR they purposefully limited the attendance limit so they could provide better security for the game.

Great game for Kevin today in Euroleague, Box Score, 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 3 TOs...
