Default Eric McClellan signs with Belgian team Limburg United

I was excited to see in Eurobasket.com Eric will be playing in Belgium this fall. Hope he does well and has a great time!
Hubo Limburg United (Scooore League) signed 23-year old American guard Eric McClellan (193-82kg-93). He just graduated from Gonzaga (NCAA). In 36 games he had 10.7ppg, 3.2rpg and 2.0apg last season. McClellan helped them to win WCC Tournament and they also made it to the NCAA Sweet 16. A very impressive season as he was voted All-WCC Defensive Player of the Year. McClellan also played 1 game in WCC where he recorded 9 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.

As mentioned above McClellan is just out of the college and it will be his first season as a pro.
I don't know what they mean by the reference to "1 game in WCC ...."

It's a really good league to start with. I hope he can make it to another level, maybe some top European teams?

    Had the same thought.

    Default Cultural Experience

Looks like Eric is in for a cultural and gastronomic experience.

Limburger is a cheese that originated during the 19th century in the historical Duchy of Limburg, which is now divided among modern-day Belgium, Germany, and Netherlands. The cheese is especially known for its pungent odor caused by the bacteria Brevibacterium linens, which smells like strong body odor and particularly smelly feet.
I can imagine some of the wisecracks.

    Are the fans "Cheeseheads?"

Do the fans holler "You Stink !" as a compliment?

Do the fans throw Limburger cheese at bad performances instead of rotten tomatoes?

I do hope we see Eric in Limburg uniform soon. It would be funny if the logo is an image of a block of cheese.

All kidding aside, Eric should be making more money that most GU grads 6 months after graduation. Good for him.

Good for Eric! Makes me wonder if any of this year's HBO series is helping this year's Zag grads land jobs - just cuz of the added exposure of them & GU??? Guess it certainly can't hurt

worth noting that the anti-malware filter on my AV blocks this page. it could well be a false positive, but figured i'd let people know.

I was spoiled on jagerschnitzel mit pommes frites.

Eric's going to have a blast! I was stationed in Germany for four years, arriving less than a year after I graduated from GU. I lived about 30 minutes from Trier, where Derek Raivio played for a few years.

Well, Eric didn't set the world on fire in that one, with four points and four rebounds in 18.03 minutes, in Limbug UTD's 90-97 loss to Donar Groningen. I liked this pic a lot, though:

Hubo Limburg United: Eric McClellan out, Wen Mukubu in

Hubo Limburg United has terminated Eric McClellan's contract by mutual agreement.

On the other hand the club has added 33-year old ex-Belgian Lion Wen Mukubu to its roster. In Belgium Mukubu previously played for Pepinster, Liège and Charleroi. Last season he played in the French Pro A league for Gravelines-Dunkerque
