    Hawks in Spokane

Hello Zags and greetings from Hawk Hill. As you may know St Joe's is in Spokane playing Cincinatti (and hopefully Oregon (maybe Holy Cross??)) this weekend. Any suggestions on things to do while in town?

What's a good spot for us to watch you guys beat up on Seton Hall tonight?

We have about 50 people in town (staying at the Davenport Grand) including alumni as well as students, plus the traveling contingent of pep band, cheerleaders, etc, so any and all suggestions are welcome. Hope we see some of you guys at our games and can count on our fellow Jesuits for some vocal support in the arena!

PS Here is a neat article that was in our local paper yesterday about a coversation between our coaches Few and Martelli. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...mpliments.html

Riverfront Park and the Falls are obvious things to visit close to the Davenport. I also recommend Northern Lights Brewery and a walk around the Gonzaga campus.

      Thanks NJH. Great article.

The Hawks & Coach Martelli have a lot of friends on this board. Hope your kids play well!

(saw The Hawk successfully flapping one arm in the scrum at the conclusion of your Championship)
      But we don't play nobody.

You guys have plenty of friends in Philly as well, many of us miss our New Years Eve games that we had going for a number of years.

We had dinner at the Onion last night, breakfast at Satellite Diner and walked all around the falls and Riverfront Park this morning. Brewery sounds good, I'm personally really excited for some of the Pacific NW brews out here.

        Go Zags! Go Hawks!!

The Hawk (and Bulldog) Will Never Die!!

Good luck SJU! You'll have fan support in Spokane.

          As for stuff to do:

Riverfront Park downtown... leave the hotel and head west. The mall and park are there. Right around the corner (south and then west) is Aunties and Uncles which is a big book store with a section for games, puzzles and odds and ends. You can spend hours there.

South and then east on Main is a section with some restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Zola is there and that's a cool place for dinner/drinks.

Back towards the park is Boo Radley's and Attitcus. A oddities/novelty shop and coffee shop. Kids love those places. Lots of cool things and all the cool Spokane souvenirs are there.

Uber or a cab (hell, they might have a free shuttle from the Davenport properties) and you can go to Northern Quest Casino. Plenty to do there. Massive bar with all the games going, etc. It's a pretty nice place.

Watching? - Jack & Dan's on Hamilton near GU - if you can get in. It could very well be standing room only already
            Go Zags! And go SJ

I haven't been back to Spokane in awhile, and it's probably going to be insane tonight for St. Patrick's Day, but I loved O'Doherty's pub downtown when I was in school.

You might consider Jack and Dan's tavern the most popular Gonzaga hangout of all. Just across Hamilton St from the Gonzaga campus. You'll have to be early though! Any employee at the "Grand" could direct you. It's walkable through Riverfront Park, the Gonzaga campus and across the street. Or a short taxi ride. A longer taxi ride to Northern Quest casino is a good option as mentioned above. Numerous TV's including a monster HDTV, dining, fine, fast food and in between and gambling if you are interested.

Decent roundup of places and happenings here in The Inlander.

If time permits, there are some decent restaurants and a terrific view in Kendall Yards.

If your just trying to get some cheap burgers head to Dicks. It's on 3rd and it's waaaaaay better then all the fast food joints surrounding it and cheaper too.

Frank's Diner is a dope breakfast spot on 2nd, right by the Maple street bridge. Don't go there a ton anymore but everyone in Spokane loves that place.

And lastly, it's not within walking distance but the flying goat has the best pizza in Spokane, hands down. It popped up in my old neighborhood a few years ago and I go there every chance I get.

If you need directions or anything feel free to shoot me a PM

I have St. Joes picking off the Bearcats in my bracket, and think you'll almost get Oregon too. (but probably not quite.)

Best of luck to our east coast fam, and enjoy Spokane.

Head over to Pete's Pizza (on the corner of Hamilton and Sharp, just off Gonzaga'a campus). Best calzones in the world!

David's Pizza, formerly on Hamilton right on the edge of GU's campus is right across the street from the Spokane Arena these days. I suspect they will be doing a huge business this weekend. Pretty good pizza there, as well!

24 Taps on Riverside and Lincoln downtown probably has the most televisions for watching games.

                              Have fun in Spokane, Hawkfans.
