    GONZAGA STORYLINES
    - The Zags have never lost an opening game of the tournament in Las Vegas, winning all seven.
    - The 8 p.m. PT tipoff is the latest scheduled start time GU has had since playing at Washington State on Nov. 30, 2011.
    - Jill Barta’s 416 points ranks fourth for most points scored in a single-season by a freshman at Gonzaga.
    - She became only the fourth freshman in GU history to score 400 points in a single season.
    - Barta is third in the WCC averaging 16.3 points per conference game. She is eighth averaging 13.9 points over the season.
    - She leads the West Coast Conference shooting 91.1 percent (82-of-90) from the free-throw line in league play.
    - Shelby Cheslek is the only player in program history to grab 900 rebounds and score 900 points.
    - Gonzaga’s +8.0 rebound margin ranks 22nd in the nation. GU’s 1,212 total rebounds are 33rd in the country.
    - The Zags rank second in the WCC holding opponents to 57.6 points per game and 37 percent from the field.
    - The Bulldogs have gone 70 straight games without allowing an opponent to shoot 50 percent from the field.
    - GU is 32-1 under Lisa Fortier when they score 70 points and 23-1 when opponents are held to 57 or less.


    ABOUT THE BRONCOS
    - Santa Clara enters the postseason after winning three of its last four games and 10 of its last 12.
    - The Broncos’ 13 conference wins ties the most in program history. The only other time the Broncos won 13 WCC games was in 1990-91 when they won the conference.
    - SCU’s 22 overall victories are the most since the 1998-99 season. That team advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
    - The Broncos top the WCC in scoring defense (57.4) and are 26th in the nation in rebound margin (+7.8). SCU also leads the conference and is 20th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (16.0).
    - Santa Clara’s defense is third in the country in steals (379) and steals per game (13.1) and place seventh in turnovers forced per game (22.1). Taylor Berry is third in the WCC averaging 2.38 steals per outing.
    - Marie Bertholdt and Lori Parkinson were both named First Team All-WCC. Parkinson leads Santa Clara in scoring with 11.0 ppg and is second with 6.4 rpg, while Bertholdt is second on the team with 10.8 ppg and leads the Broncos with 6.5 rpg.


    SERIES HISTORY
    - Thursday is the 63rd meeting between the teams and GU has a 34-28 advantage in the series.
    - The Zags had their 20-game win streak in the series snapped when Santa Clara won the latest meeting in January.
    - Prior to that loss, the Bulldogs had won nine straight at SCU, dating back to 2006. Gonzaga has won 14 of the 33 meetings at Santa Clara or on a neutral court versus the Broncos.
    - The last time the Broncos beat Gonzaga away from Santa Clara was in the 2003 WCC Tournament semifinals in San Diego.
    - The teams have met four times in the WCC Tournament, with Santa Clara winning three of those meetings.
    - The Zags won the last meeting in the WCC Tournament, 87-47, in the 2010 WCC Tournament semifinals in Las Vegas.


    VIVA LAS ZAGAS
    - Gonzaga returns to Las Vegas where it has won two of the last three WCC tournaments.
    - The Zags have never lost an opening game of the tournament in Las Vegas, winning all seven.
    - Gonzaga has won the opening game of tournament the past nine years, dating back to an upset loss at home to eighth-seeded San Francisco in 2006.
    - The Bulldogs are 12-10 in opening games at the tournament, including a perfect 4-0 in the quarterfinals.
    - The Zags have won five of the last seven WCC tournaments.
    - GU is 15-6 in Las Vegas all-time, including 13-2 in the WCC tournament in Vegas.
    - The Bulldogs were 7-10 in the conference tournament prior to it coming to Vegas.
    - Gonzaga’s two losses in the tournament in Las Vegas have both been to BYU.
    - GU has been in the WCC tournament championship game eight of the past nine years, appearing in all but one of the championships while the tournament has been at the Orleans.


    WELCOME BACK TO THE POSTSEASON
    - Gonzaga is 35-29 (.547) in the postseason since joining the NCAA.
    - The Zags are 22-16 (.579) in the West Coast Conference tournament.
    - GU is also 10-8 (.556) in the NCAA Tournament, and 3-5 (.375) in the WNIT.


    WCC RECOGNIZES BARTA AND CHESLEK
    - Jill Barta became the first Gonzaga women’s basketball freshman to be named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team in eight years. The annual lists were released by the conference office Tuesday.
    - Shelby Cheslek was tabbed honorable mention All-WCC.
    - Barta, which was also named to the WCC All-Freshman Team, joined Pepperdine’s Erica Ogwumike as the first freshmen on the annual first team since GU’s Courtney Vandersloot in 2008.
    - Barta and Ogwumike are the 11th and 12th freshmen to be named All-WCC First Team in conference history.
    - Barta joins Vandersloot and Heather Bowman as the only GU freshman to be selected to the first team.
    - Lexi Rydalch of BYU was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year.
    - The Cougars’ Kalani Purcell was tabbed the conference’s Newcomer of the Year.
    - BYU’s Jeff Judkins was selected as the WCC Coach of the Year.
    - San Diego’s Maya Hood was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.


    PACKING THE MAC
    - Gonzaga is 12th in the nation in accumulative attendance with 95,268 fans in 17 home games.
    - The Zags’ 5,604 average fans per game ranks 12th in the country.
    - The Bulldogs are also third in the NCAA filling the 6,000-seat McCarthey Athletic Center to 93.40 percent.
    - GU’s sellout crowd in the regular season finale against BYU was the fifth sellout of the season and 21st in program history inside the McCarthey Athletic Center.
    - Gonzaga has a 16-6 record in those sellout games, going 14-1 against West Coast Conference competition.
    - There were six sellouts during the 2012-13 season, which is the program record for sellouts in a season.


    CHASING MILESTONES

    - Shelby Cheslek
    - Cheslek is first in program history with 205 career blocks.
    - She moved to eighth in West Coast Conference history with her 205 blocks, two away from seventh.
    - Cheslek is second in GU history with 907 rebounds. Kay Koppelman owns the record at 983.
    - She is also seventh in the league’s history with 907 career rebounds, 32 away from sixth.
    - Cheslek is tied for eighth all-time in GU program history with 131 games played in her career.
    - Her 57 blocks this season are fourth for most blocks in a single season, two away from third.
    - Cheslek’s 258 rebounds this season is 10th in program history, nine away from ninth.

    - Jill Barta
    - Barta’s 294 points in conference action were the most scored ever by a GU player.
    - The redshirt freshman’s 162 rebounds are the eighth-most by a GU freshman in program history.


    WE’RE WITNESSING HISTORY
    - Jill Barta’s 416 points are the fourth-most by a freshman in GU history. Tammy Tibbles owns the record at 475.
    - Barta’s 13.9 points per game leads the Zags. She can be the first freshman in program history to lead a team in scoring in a season.
    - She is six rebounds away from the top-five most boards by a freshman in program history.
    - Barta became only the third freshman in program history to score 30 points in a game. Heather Bowman was the last with 32 points in 2006, and Amy Simpson was the first with a program-record 38 points in 1983.
    - Barta’s 294 points in West Coast Conference play are the most on the program’s all-time list by any player over any class.


    A ONE-POINT RARITY
    - Gonzaga’s losses to Pacific and San Diego were the first back-to-back one-point GU games since 1987-88, and only the second time that back-to-back one-point games have happened in program history.
    - The 1987-88 season was the second season of GU women’s basketball. The Bulldogs won both of those games 28 years ago.
    - The Zags’ three one-point decisions this season are the most in a single-season in program history.
    - GU’s three one-point setbacks were over a 35-day.
