Default ZaGranny's Adventures in Hoopfest 2015

Usually we go to Hoopfest on Sunday for the finals, but because Sunday was predicted to be hotter than Saturday, and because we had a couple of errands to run in Spokane at places not open on Sunday, we went on Saturday this year.

Mr. ID dropped me off at the Red Lion River Inn and went to run the errands. I walked from the Red Lion to the festivities at Riverfront.

First stop--the GU/BIS booth to see the guys:

    Eric, Silas, Ryan and me:

Lite Retro (Matt Santangelo, Casey Calvary, Blake Stepp and Robert Lipplman) on center court:

I went back to the GU booth and asked Eric for help with my new smart-phone. Mr. ID just gave it to me, and I haven't learned how to use it well. Add to that the fact that my fingers were swollen with the heat and you can understand why I asked Eric to dial Mr. ID's phone so we could hook up. Mr. ID met me at the booth and we wandered around.

    My favorite team unis:

When I asked for a pic, one guy was quick to say, we gotta line up right! The team is from Kalispell, and they know Ryan.

We had a quick bite at the shrimp taco truck and went back to the booth to see the next shift of Zags:

    Krem2 interviewing Eric:

Dustin, Rem and Shrem with me:

We went back to center court to watch the Bomb Squad dance:

ESPN delayed things for about 15 minters interviewing Matt, Casey and Blake:

We watched part of the dunk contest. When we left, the knob of my wooden walking stick was so hot I could not hold onto it. After gripping it below the top, I walked over to the fountain and dipped it a few times to cool it off.

ESPN SportsCenter did a terrific job of showcasing Hoopfest, Spokane, Zags basketball. Kudos to them for three hours of major exposure.

That SC anchor from Wazzu is a cutie, too.

We went back to the Zags booth to see the Lady Zags:

Emma Wolfram, Elle Tinkle and me:

After visiting with the Lady Zags for a bit we headed down the Centennial Trail the car. I usually walk back on the trail across the river, so Mr.ID wanted me to see the moose statue:

    Mr. ID:

We proceeded down the trail and across the river to the GU parking lot. We stopped at Costco and Walmart before heading home.

It was a great way to get our midsummer Zag-fix! My only regret is that we didn't know until we got home that 4 former Lady Zags (Shannon Reader, Jazmine Redmon, Taelor Karr, Janelle Bekkering) were playing as SLECU ZagBabes.

They will be playing again in a few minutes, but we have too much to do to make another trip over to Spokane.
