Default Early 2015/16 Preseason Top 25 Lists

The guys at CBS put out their too early Top 25 (and one) tonight and I thought I'd share it even if it is ridiculous.

    8. GONZAGA

Notable players definitely gone: Kevin Pangos, Gary Bell, Angel Nunez, Byron Wesley
    Others expected to leave: None
Notable players expected to return: Kyle Wiltjer, Przemek Karnowski, Domantas Sabonis, Silas Melson, Kyle Dranginis, Eric McClellan, Josh Perkins
Others expected to join the roster: None

Why the Zags are ranked here: Gonzaga should return six of the top nine players from a team that won 35 games and made the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Kyle Wiltjer will have a strong case to be a preseason First Team All-American.

The first days of the offseason are reserved for ridiculous...... like my kids making a snowman in the yard the day after Easter. You are normal.

Don't be surprised if some publications have GU just outside the top 10 due to Pangos and Bell being gone. There will be doubters until Perkins and Co. step it up.

An example would be The Sporting News, which put GU at No. 11 in this annoying slide show presentation of their early top 25.

More to follow when the NBA exists are known. I still say GU is a top 10 team right now. We'll see come June. WHen it comes to our guards, lots of experience with EMAC, Draino and some with Jenks ( lol ok ok ok!! I got it). I do think it'll be a more aggressive team next year.

That CBS top 10 is heavy on Big 12 teams. Did they not just watch the Tournament where all of those teams flamed out early? So maybe next year the Big 12 will be the hands down best conference in the country according to the experts again, and fail to deliver in March again.

Yup we aren't in it at all. That Top 25 looks like a joke. And its not just because Gonzaga isn't in it, although that is a GLARING omission.

I don't know but I can tell you one thing. I think he had SMU at 16 or 17 or something. Just wait till the Zags come to Dallas.

    Did they read those names?

It is going to be really fun emailing that list to them all next year.

With Wiltjer (a preseason first teamer), Sabonis (possible lottery pick next year), Karnowski (how many teams will have a better 5 man?) and Edwards (a 7 footer who most teams would give anything to have as a 4th big man), Hondo and I could run the backcourt and Gonzaga would be somewhere in the top 25. It almost seems like an oversight on Rothstein's part.

I think this ranking is more in line with reality. 7 (espn)-9 (cbs) is surely whaere I thought we'd be. Mods might want to combine this with the CBS thread.

Lunardi's 2015-16 Bracketology has the Zags in Spokane. Gotta love that!
