Good luck moving forward Phish. I hope the seizures will be more under control. The pacemaker will take a while to get use to but over time it will be less of an issue. The good news is that now they’ll be able to track how often this is happening.

God bless all the Phishs. Thank God that you all found this now and can deal with it.

If you ever have the chance, try David Davidson's. Outstanding.

Giving "Walls O Water" a try this season. We're known for freak frosts before Memorial Day, so I took a flyer on 3 3 packs and have them in play. Usually I roll the dice and stick the plants in the ground and call it good.

Hope things are going well in Phishville. I see Trey and Company are beginning their tour @ South Lake Tahoe. . .

I hadn't heard about that one, I will have to see when it is on and hope it comes to Prime video.

    Things are rollin', man!

Catch Trey if you can. And it's not too late to plan your epic Gorge '18 trip...

    Haven't caught that one yet.

Still need to see "Stranger Things" Season 2 also. Have thoroughly enjoyed Season 2 of "Westworld" on HBO so far. . .

My daughter will be relocating to Spokane. Lots of mixed feelings about this development, but mostly I am very happy she has decided to re-start her formal education. I'm proud she has the courage to spread her wings and fly.

Heading back tomorrow, with a Zag classmate. Unfortunately, we'll likely have to contend with smoky skies from the Donnell fire to the southwest of Ebbetts Pass.

I don't go back to work until Tuesday. This wee break in the schedule comes at a very good time.

Default News on the March !

    In other news. . .

I am looking forward to continuing an evolving relationship with a former Gonzaga classmate. Her name is Carol. She lives in Spokane. Carol has been teaching in the Spokane County school district for nearly as long as I have been with Acme and currently teaches third graders at Lidgerwood. We knew each other briefly in college and reconnected in the summer of 2016.

On my last visit to Spokane in August of this year, we spent quality time together and came away from that encounter hopeful our friendship and feelings would survive the distance apart. Happily, that appears to be the case and we look forward to spending time together during the holidays-- away from the demands of our careers and able to see with our own eyes the smiles we’ve enjoyed via telephone calls along with experiencing feelings we’ve shared via “primitive” communications utilizing pen, paper, and the post office.

We’ve found written correspondence an approach that tests and rewards one’s patience. Though there have been texts and emails also, there’s something about opening a mailbox and finding a hand written letter inside that’s right as rain. One could read the same message, the same sentences and sentiments word-for word on a computer screen but it feels sterile somehow. A note or letter you can put in your pocket or pin to your refrigerator beats the hell out of a 280 character tweet or a Facebook messenger exchange. And the only power supply necessary is the power of one’s imagination. . .

My friend and mentor, Dr. Fran Polek, authored the following observation:

    We tend to forget
    In times of reversal
    That life, without risk
    Is endless rehearsal.

Fran’s epigram has hung on the wall of my office since I received the “Founder’s Day” news in September. He taught Carol also and we’ve been able to share good memories of our time in his classrooms during our undergrad days. We do not know if “things will work out” any more than any other couple. We do know we’re willing to give ourselves the chance. An advantage we have after six decades of living, learning, laughing, crying, and caring for others we’ve loved, and several we’ve lost, is knowing we regret the chances we did not take.
On 8.18.18, Carol accepted my proposal of marriage. . .

    Congratulations, amigo!

Yesterday we celebrated our thirtieth anniversary. I so appreciate the importance of love, laughter and companionship on the journey.
