I see the presidential election as a referendum on the following: Fear of Trump vs. Hatred of Hillary.

That's all this election is about. It's not about experience, qualifications, policy positions, patriotism, or allegiance to the Constitution.

The words of the fictional Nucky Thompson come to mind: "We all have to decide how much sin we can live with."

Spent a few days in Austin, TX, for a business retreat this week. It wasn't humid enough [sarcasm]

Highly recommend this place for BBQ

Will receive an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy in about four hours. Two years ago I was en route to the same clinic for the same reason when I was rear-ended at a freeway off-ramp.

Hoping today's excursion features far less excitement.

    Have a great weekend.

Today I packed up the gazebo cover, lights, patio chair cushions, and other accessories associated with Spring & Summer. It was a beautiful day for it and I have found it's not worth trying to push it to the limit with that gear re: weather. Putting it away dry a week or two in advance of the wet weather beats the hell out of trying to dry that stuff off in the garage when a rainstorm hits and it's 45 degrees out.
The Fall colors are amazing this year. The hastas are translucent yellow, the virginia creepers are merlot red, and the accidental maple at the edge of the patio is a blend of lime green and lemon meringue yellow.

The "entertainment" season was a good one. BBQ dinners, sessions by the fire pit, star gazing nights with discussions of presidential politics thrown in. . .neighbors, friends, and relatives visited and temporarily filled the void in my heart with fine times that made the business of getting on with life a touch easier.

It has been seven months since my wife passed. The pain and sadness come and go but the memories are constant. Am finding the better times and spontaneous moments of the past flash across my internal video screen more often than the agonizing visions of her terrible end in March. I'm thankful time is bringing the good stuff in to replace the bad, though I suppose a more artful way of describing this transition remains to be found.

There are still some humps to get over: Watching the Zags solo will be tough. My birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years lay ahead . . .

    So it goes.

I can't begin to fathom what you are going through. Please know that I will be there with you, at least in spirit. I wish for you the best, and hope that as time passes, it is the best memories that become constant.

Hoping the exhibition vs. West Georgia gets it's own fishing hole. Need something to disrupt the constant onslaught of politics.

Or the sound of exhausted exasperation one lets out reflecting on the last fifteen months.

The onset of the holidays is bringing some tough days at the ol' memory bank. Will be spending Thanksgiving Day with my sister , neices, nephews, cousins, etc. so there's that.

Happy to have the regularly scheduled distraction of Gonzaga basketball games to look forward to. Those two hour breaks from the routine are a great tonic.

    Have a good weekend, Foo.

You too. Yesterday I had a quiet pre-birthday dinner with my daughter & sister-in-law. When we got home, I was welcomed by a surprise party of birthday revelers !! Had no clue there was a conspiracy afoot. Wonderful fun evening with much love, laughter, and beverages. . .haven't stopped smiling.

Thanks, Beast. Today's the day and in honor of the occasion, I have a full schedule:

    8:40am - Cardiologist
    10:00 am - Teeth Cleaning
11:00 - Holiday stocking up at Total Wine
1:30 pm - End of year review with Financial Planner
TBD: Small plates and cocktails with friends

My Thanksgiving vacation began at 4:30pm Monday. I don't return to work until Monday.

Not a bad way to celebrate hitting 59.

    Cheers !

I think I've asked you this before, but did you name yourself "RenoZag" because you thought "SparksZag" sounded a little too "country?" Or, do you happen to live in Reno?

Thinking on it, some. I suspect if I were to live in Nevada, Reno would be my top choice, too. Vegas is just, well - Vegas. Tahoe would be ok, the snow would get old. Summers delightful. Always thought Reno was a cool little town with some big town stuff. Having the university there helps.

Reno is so close to hell, you can see Sparks (or so they say )

Don't recall why I chose "RenoZag" vs. "SparksZag". I get my mail in the 89436.
