I voted for Gary Bell. Somehow he woke up in the second half. Darn he played good that second half. Yes. I too loved his passion and fire tonight. THAT is what this team has been missing. I think Dower has it too, but he's a little more reserved. Dower's shot was what won the game, yes. But honestly, Dower played one of his worst defensive games this year...And he just is not boarding. You must admit, that Freshman sub who played the 4 or 5 killed Sam. On the other hand, Gary shut down one more pretty good scorer in the WCC who scored 30 in both of his last two games.

If the title was best defensive ...bell

But we would not have a gu unit discussion if dower misses the biggest shot of his career

    Dower.

Was Nunez in the final play? Defensive stopper?

I had Bell right up until 1.9 secs were left, then went for Dower. The stats were very close between the two, but the clutch shot gets the nod.

For those who go with Dower due to that last shot, remember it was Dower's foul (and I use that term loosely) and 4-point play that started the pendulum the other direction. He really shouldn't even have been close enough to look like he fouled him...

I went with PK. He was the best player for GU for most of the game.

    Also,

How did he not get an assist? He had that perfect pass to GB in the first half that resulted in a layup? I guess it goes to show how unreliable stats are sometimes.

Edit to add: It looks like they game it to Barham.
12:45 Gary Bell Jr. made Layup. Assisted by Drew Barham.
How do they make that mistake?

And they gave the assist on Sam's 3 to Pangos instead of Draino... all lies

Exactly how I saw the game.

Dower improved his rebounding from the San Diego game.

PK had a nice stat line with four blocks.

I thought Coleman gave them a lift coming off the bench with so much energy.

Wow, was there a lot of emotion. SCU's physicality and the uneven calls probably contributed. I loved the way Bell fought back to get us into the lead.

Shem - his defense and first half points kept us in it.

I have to go with Karnowski. Nobody could hit the broad side of an aircraft carrier in the first half besides him.And without that, we would have been run out of the building early. Major props to TEAM DEFENSE, especially Gary.

^^^ My feelings exactly. The 4 point swing after we just built up a 10 point lead was brutal. Sam certainly redeemed himself in the end, but my nod went to GBJ. His offensive intensity in the 2nd half and defense won it for me.

Anyone. As long as you're logged in, you can vote once. We actually don't close the polls though. People just kinda stop voting after 2-3 days and usually there's a clear leader.

I think we should have early voting too. The TV broadcast had the "play of the game" right after the intermission IIRC. I think Dower would have won that had they waited.

Bell got my vote, although I expected the votes to be split between him and Dower (as they should be). But Bell's defense simply cannot be ignored.
