Like Josh's team, Derek's team has qualified for the Eurochallenge Last 16. Okapi Aalstar (at 4-2) finished in 2nd place in their group after today's 90-81 road win in France over Paris Levallois. Derek had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists. In his 6 Eurochallenge games, Derek is averaging 15.3 points and 4.7 assists, and has canned 13 out of his 20 three-pointers.

Congrats to both Derek and Josh for advancing in the Eurochallenge.

And in the Belgian league, Aalstar is currently atop the standings at 6-2, with Derek averaging 13.5 points, shooting 12-28 from three (42.9%), 30-34 on FTs (88.2%), and dishing out 31 assists to just 6 turnovers.

Derek burned up the nets in a Belgian Cup match yesterday. 32 points in a 118-89 rout of Verviers-Pepinster. Most of Derek's buckets are in the 1st half of the 5+ min highlight video

The Eurochallenge Last 16 round began today. Aalstar is in a group with Telekom Baskets Bonn (Germany), EWE Baskets Oldenburg (Germany), and Tsmoki-Minsk (Belarus). Home & road matches against each club.

Today Aalstar lost at home to Bonn, 65-60. Derek missed a shot with just over 30 seconds left and Aalstar down by one. Bonn closed it out with free throws. In 35 minutes, Derek had 12 points, 4 assists, 4 turnovers, 3 rebounds & 1 steal.

In the Belgian league, Aalstar has lost 3 of its last 4, and is now in 3rd place at 7-5. Derek is 2nd on the team in ppg (14.1), scoring 22 & 24 in his most recent Belgian league games.

Big game for Derek today as Okapi Aalstar got their first win in the Eurochallenge behind 25 points for Derek! Nice going, D-Rav!

    From FIBA, including box score:
Okapi Aalstar needed two overtimes but finally completed a stirring comeback to beat Tsmoki-Minsk 91-87 on the road for their first win in Group L of the EuroChallenge.

Minsk led from the opening minutes until late in the fourth quarter, and looked ready to cruise to the finish as they held a 63-49 advantage early in the fourth period.

But Okapi stormed back, and they took a shock lead, 69-68, on Derek Raivio's three-pointer with 2:22 to go.

Aliaksandr Kudrautsau's free throws put Minsk back in front but Ryan Thompson hit a lay-up to give Okapi the lead again.

Further free throws gave Minsk a 73-71 lead in the final seconds but Raivio's lay-up almost on the buzzer forced overtime.

The teams continued to trade the lead with neither able to find any separation.

Aliaksei Trastsinetski's free throw put Minsk up 81-79 with 17 seconds left in overtime, but Chris Young went to the line with one second left and hit both to send it to a second extra period.

Minsk hit first, with Pavel Ulyanko's free throws giving them a four-point lead but Okapi wiped it out with six straight.

They won it on defence at the end, getting away with missed free throws down the stretch as they held Minsk scoreless for the final two minutes.

Raivio led Okapi with 25 points while Larry Anderson had 16 and Young 13.

Ulyanko had 18 points for Minsk with Kudrautsau adding 16 and Pushtahvar 15. Lashkevich finished with 13.
I like this pic of Derek from a recent game vs. Mons-Hainaut in the Belgian League:
