    Default Goodman's "Top non-conference contests"

According to Jeff, GU has four of the top 30 non-conference games this upcoming season (ignoring multi-team tournament possible matchups):
    # 16 Baylor
    # 24 Butler
    # 28 Oklahoma State
    # 30 Kansas State

    The top three?
    # 1 Kentucky at Louisville
    # 2 North Carolina at Indiana
    # 3 Kentucky vs. Duke

Doesn't look like it. Baylor is scheduled for 12/28 in the MAC. Dorms don't open for second semester until Jan. 13.

That's pretty disgraceful and unfortunate that a lot of the students cant take the game in and that the players have to play without their support.

How is it disgraceful? Unfortunate? Perhaps. But disgraceful? I don't think you have much insight into how incredibly difficult scheduling is. Here's another for you...with classes not starting until mid-January, there will likely be at least two home conference games played without the students being school.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that, these games always scare me, especially against a strong opponent already. Baylor gets to play a neutral game essentially now

Here's the issue: Gonzaga's Christmas break is more than a month long. That's a big chunk of the MBB season.

It is also the majority chunk of the OOC season. That means most of the OOC games will be played during this time.

There is basically one week in Nov and two weeks in Dec that are outside of that window. That is maybe three home games.

I'd rather play Baylor dec 28 than not play them at all

disgraceful means somebody made an irresponsible decision when there were better decisions that could have been made

I doubt that happened in this case

    Default other issues

The GU schedulers also have to schedule games around finals week in mid-December. The same goes for other teams. Most major teams like Baylor don't want to be traveling for a game during that time frame.

If you consider finals week, the huge Xmas vacation, the whole week the Zags will be in Orlando....there might be a two and a half week window where the students are on campus. The Zags can't just set up shop during that period and play nothing but home games against power schools. They will probably need to play a road game or two during that time frame. And at some point the Zags need to fit in a guarantee game to work on things.

Scheduling is a very complicated matter. It involves the negotiation of two teams. There is a limited time frame to work with. The fact that Baylor will need to play at K2 when the students aren't on campus is not disgraceful. It is just kind of disappointing.

BTW - the schedule is not completed yet. Gonzaga is still looking to get another home game vs. a BCS team. Illinois is also coming to K2.

It is unfortunate that some of these marque games are played without student support, hut consider what the women have. Well over 5,000 per game and maybe 20-30 students show up. During the game with Miami last year the crowd was deafening. It is not like that at all during the regular season but they still get a lot of vocal support from us old farts in our sweater vests.
Lets stop complaining about no students during some games and instead get out there and yell your ass off.

Disgraceful is Hitler wiping out populations of innocent people. This college basketball game falls a bit short of the term" digraceful" These days kids and some adults are given to hyperbole. Seems like it here.

    REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY BIG stuff ..

Opening of dorms too late for a basketball game is "light".
