Gonzales Wins Pitching Duel As Zags Shutout Tigers
SPOKANE, Wash. - Marco Gonzales struck out eight batters as he went all the way to lead the Gonzaga University baseball team to a 2-0 victory over the University of the Pacific Saturday evening.
Pacific's Kyle Crawford (1-2) also threw a complete-game with two strikeouts and a walk, but the Tigers (3-15) offense could not break down Gonzales to help their starting pitcher.
Gonzales (3-0) was in command for a majority of the game. The sophomore allowed five hits and walked one in his first complete-game performance since May 16, 2011. The Bulldogs (11-5) were limited to singles on their 10-hit evening.
