BYU @ SMC/Thursday 8:00 PM -- ESPN2

SMC played great. BYU simply couldn't keep up. BYU has better overall talent, but SMC played much better last night. The Cougs certainly left Moraga with a bitter taste in their mouths, so I expect they'll extract their revenge next time in Provo.

IIRC that game is only a month from now... revenge should be fresh in their minds. Ought to be a good one. I must say I'm loving have BYU in the conference so far - it makes for several more 'must watch' games then there have been in the past (I'd classify the GU/SMC games, GU@SCU [how do they always make those games nail-biters down there?], and rivalry games like SCU/SMC as 'must watch' in the past). Now we have BYU/SMC and us/BYU to add to that... plus all the big 3 vs LMU will be interesting this season.

As a side note, I notice that BYU/USD will be televised on BYU TV - it's nice to have some of the 'smaller' conference games available on tv.

Just the opposite will be true. Lots of "GU" and "Bulldogs" stickers in the rear windows of cars on the BYU campus. Be prepared for a sizable group of Zag fans in Marriott for the Feb. game...

Yeah, me too! Except I'll be chillin' in the student section. Sadly, I'll have to wear my Zag shirt under a BYU shirt, or I'll get kicked out for wearing opponent's apparel in the BYU student's section

If you lived in Provo, or knew BYU fans, you would understand. They deserve to get crap for all the stuff they dish out. This is the same fan base that rushed the field after they beat Utah State, and was celebrating in the streets after they beat a Gresham-less, mostly Bradford-less Oklahoma team by one early on in the season a few years back.

My claim is that it is ok to jaw a little, and razz people/talk a little smack. You act as though people are out there threatening their children in the name of Gonzaga.

I was at the BYU/North Florida game a few years ago, and late in the game, during a BYU free throw I yelled, "Go Utes, Baby"...and the whole crowd booed me in unison. In fact, a few guys around me were incensed...it was hilarious . It was fun to get a rise out of them. There is an element of sports and fanhood that involves said activity. I live around those people, it's a give and take.

The whole Utah/BYU rivalry reminds me of Michigan/Ohio State. Most of the people I work with are LDS but most of them root for the Utes! I think we are sitting near each other, didn't we figure that out when tickets went on sale...? I am in section 13.
