Hyland commits to Fairfield

SOUTH PORTLAND - After leaving two schools in a span of a couple weeks, Keegan Hyland says he has found a new home.

The former South Portland star has committed to play basketball at Fairfield University in the MAAC Conference.

Due to injuries and lack of playing time, Hyland left Gonzaga in December, and committed to Vermont. Just a couple weeks later, Hyland left Vermont for unknown reasons.

Hyland said via text message that he plans to petition the NCAA to be eligible to play midway through next season. NCAA transfer rules state that he must sit out the entire 2011-12 season.Hyland commits to Fairfield
