What does this Quote mean :

I recall from last year reading on the board that Brock had a guarentee even if he got hurt in high school and couldn't play BBall - Does the quote above mean that if Brock does not develop the way they expect him to that they could pull the scholership ? I don't think it means that - I think it means that GU is willing to bet on what they think Brock will become. What do others think - any ideas ?

I think you're on the right track, but not so drastic - I think the staff just wanted to make it clear that just because Brock is now coming to GU doesn't mean that he can stop working hard and slack off, knowing he's already set up. They want the player that he can develop into, not what he is now. It sounds like Brock is competitive and interested enough not to need such a caveat, but I'm sure not all players would be.
