Default Best of luck to Austin Daye Saturday night: adidas Derby Festival Basketball Classic

4pm PT in Louisville. No TV

The players who will be playing with and against Austin:

    Player Pos. College
    Chris Allen G Michigan State
    Michael Beasley F Kansas State
    Austin Daye F Gonzaga
    LaceDarius Dunn G Baylor
    George Goode F Louisville
    Senario Hillman G Alabama
    Jamelle Horne F Arizona
    Rick Jackson F Syracuse
    Antonio Jardine G Syracuse
    DeAndre Jordan C Texas A&M
Herb Pope F New Mexico St.
    Ty Proffitt G Notre Dame
    Anthony Randolph F LSU
    Tyrel Reed G Kansas
    Jeff Robinson F Memphis
    Rakim Sanders F Boston College
    Nolan Smith G Duke
    Chace Stanback F UCLA
    A.J. Stewart F Kentucky
    Julian Vaughn F Florida State
    Mike Williams C Kentucky

----Austin should get a good amount of PT. There are only a handful of players in this event that are more decorated than him. I am afraid that Williams (2 star, Rivals), Stewart (3 star, Rivals), Proffitt (NR), and Goode (#93 Rivals) were selected to put more people in the seats at Freedom Hall.

Not that it matters a whole lot but it'd be nice to see Daye outshine Michael Beasley.

Default Loiusville fan's comment on Daye

Good assesments above. I was also impressed by Daye (Gonzaga). He looks and plays like a taller stronger version of Reggie Miller. He could be a very good college player. Court smart, very long, excellent shooter with range and willing to mix it pretty well for a slender guy. Looks to match his listed 6'9" height,

None too shabby, stat-wise. Anyone know how many minutes he played?

It's hard to compare performances when stats aren't in tabular form. Austin was tied for second in scoring on the gold team at 14 pts, and he was the second leading rebounder overall on both teams with 9 rebounds, following Beasley's 16.

Edited to add: It will be interesting to see where Austin ends up in the final recruiting rating services. Near as I can tell, this is where he's positioned in some of the recent listings:

    Rivals: 25
    RSCI: 36
    Scout: 73

How does Scout maintain any credibility any more? Shouldn't they footnote their ratings to come out in the open with the number of bonus points they award to a player being tracked by premium message boards? Or should they just acknowledge about a kid, "Don't know. Not being tracked by any of our premium message boards. We could care less."

Yeah, Scout is terrible at upadting any kids' profiles who aren't in the top 20ish players. Sacre is still listed at 6-9 220 or something for goodness sake.

scout is pretty bad. they have eastern mich as a school that has offered a scholly to Jordan and that just isn't true. weird. at least his rivals profile is a bit more accurate (correct height/weight) and lists almost all the schools listed that he is considering.
