Default Baseball: 1st NCAA trip since 1981?

Here is how the standing look in WCC baseball today:

    WCC Baseball Standings
    Team WCC PCT Overall

    Gonzaga 12-6 .667 30-14
    LMU 12-6 .667 29-21
    #28 San Diego 10-8 .555 27-21
    San Francisco 8-7 .533 23-25
    Pepperdine 7-8 .467 24-19
    Saint Mary's 8-10 .444 27-23
    Portland 5-10 .333 22-20
    Santa Clara 4-11 .267 16-28

GU and LMU don't play any conference games until they play each other when they meet for 3 at GU on May 15-17. The first place team hosts the 2nd place team in a best-of-3, with the winner getting an NCAA berth. Another possibility for teams in the 66% overall winning range is an at-large spot. WCC has often sent 2 teams, occasionally 3.

GU has 7 NCAA Baseball appearances, but the last one was in 1981 when Steve Hertz' team went 48-21. GU has never won the WCC in baseball since we have been a member.

Lion fan here. I am hoping for a good series, and that both of our teams make it to the NCAA tourney.

I've been singing the praises of this G.U. nine for months now. They are 4 real. On to Omaha!!
