Was the WKU game in AK the one where Pargo had an amazing dunk ON & OVER an opponent waved off by a BS offensive call or was it one of the other 2 AK games?

Western Kentucky is a real fun team. I wish we weren't playing for them, as it's been said, they're the type of team we love. I could say the same thing for Akron now. Great programs. The Zags are better then Western Kentucky this year. This is our year to prove who we are. Gonzaga has 4 Seniors that play and Western Kentucky 1. Mendez Valdez is a great point guard and will have some great plays during the game but our defense will figure out a way to beat them. Illinois was missing one of their most important players on the team, and especially on defense. It really hurt them with him out. I felt bad for Illinois because I like their Coach, Weber. I think WKU is a little young this year, and in the end their youth causes them to make some costly mistakes. I think they are prone to turnovers at times, and not a great rebounding team.

I just feel that this is GU's year. As you all know I've felt and believed it all year. No reason to change now. I've hung tough with these guys this year, and I see them really playing great basketball tomorrow night. I can hardly wait for the game. It's going to be a GREAT one for sure.

Default No one dare to say it, but

I smell an upset in this game. The 10 pt spread LV casinos posted are just crazy. I am in Chicago now, so I watched the whole WKU vs. Illinois game. The score was kind of mis-leading. WKU killed Illinois in the first 35 min or so before running out of gas and let Illinois back in. Granted Illinois is without Frazier, but WKU was up by 15 pts with 7 min to play. It was not a close game.

If the Zags played like they did against Akron in the first 25 min, WKU will kill them. WKU had some great shooters, and Mendez is a great PG, better than Pargo. If GU thinks they are ten points better than WKU and don't play the game with any urgency, WKU is very capable of doing what they did to Illinois yesterday to Gonzaga. That's why I don't like the line, and think WKU has a great chance at an upset.

I like this matchup for us much better than Illinois they play the up tempo game that we like. I really think we'll win this one going away provided no one goes off on threes.

I'd like to see another 4-6 blocks for Austin on the perimeter...make them adjust their shots, then keep switching between matchup zone and man D.

Can't agree with any of this.

virtually all the stats are the same but jeremy played against much tougher competition. and pargo has many other players who can help thus limiting the scoring pargo needs to do. jeremy on wku means way better numbers than dingos...

How can you not agree with "any" of that...Simply put, if the Zags put up another 25 uninspired minutes of basketball against WKU we are going down...Play hard Zags and just win...

    GO ZAGS!

I pretty much disagree with the rest of your post, though.

Illinois scored 33 and 36 points total in games this year with Frazier.. 48 in a win once....Big ten or not, that is not a great team. JMHO

BTW, I bet Mendez-Valdez guards Bouldin, not Pargo. He's strong enough to bother Matt, but not athletic enough to keep up with Pargo when Pargo gets going. IMO. So I don't think that discussion will be settled on the court, at least not directly. I don't remember if he guarded Pargo for much time in Alaska last year.

Yeah Im pretty sure you are correct. Infact, I've got the poster to prove it. How many players are on a poster, where the dunk was actually called off for an Offensive foul? Thats rare!

    GO ZAGS!
Real simple. WKU is decent, but not good enough to "kill" the Zags and put 'em away in 25 minutes of play like the Zags had yesterday. Even Illinois came back in a big way against WKU after playing a lot worse than the Zags for the first 25 mins.

We had some bad losses early in the season, due to injury and suspensions,we had double digit losses to teams we would kill now.We also have tendency to let up after getting a lead, can not let that happen tomorrow. good luck

The truth is that we are a talented bunch who when playing up to our potential have the ability to put away any team in the country including WKU.

If the WCC tournament Zags show up it will be a long night for WKU.

The Hilltoppers are good and just like us they are playing for their tournament lives but I believe in this group of Zags and that they are dead on focused on WKU and the task at hand. We are going to see our team play that game, 40 minutes of focused effort and energy. We can't ask for more that.

    Go!! Zags!!!

    Default Defense is the Key

Good posts BaldwinZag. We need to take control form the opening tip and rip into these guys hard on the defensive end. We have had very few foul out problems. Sometimes I think our guys are tentative to a fault about fouling. We need to go after them hard and let it happen as the game dictates. Baldwin is right. Daye is a key with ability to block, rebound and defend.

The Hilltoppers were just hot shooting threes yesterday. We've got to guard the 3 better than usual or hope they aren't as hot as against Illinois.
