    Please Read - GUBoards Rules

    Per the Spokesman-Review:

    Community guidelines

Free speech is chic. Spokesman.com is a place for robust debate and interaction among community users, especially through discussions about stories, multimedia and other content. But because this is a web site owned by a family newspaper, here are some basic rules about sharing and posting on our site:

    The Basics

No hate speech or hate symbols, which includes but is not limited to content that is degrading to someone's race, religion, ethnicity, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Please avoid using obscene, profane or vulgar language. No sharing or uploading content of like nature. Please contact a moderator to report offensive content for consideration and possible removal. Outside of those guidelines, the best solution to "unwanted" speech is counterspeech. If you don't agree with somebody's opinion, consider adding your voice.

    Treat other participants politely.

We encourage the building of friendships and social networks through our virtual venues. Please respect other community members. We also encourage users to stay on topic. Please use common sense for taste and decency because your mother, grandmother, kids or boss may be reading.

Don't exploit people; don't exploit the medium.

Spokesman.com is not a place for porn, blatant promotion, mindless abuse, mining, pushing one's own agenda or anything else considered spam. No harassment, stalking, threats or intimidation, trolling, flame wars or exposing other users' personal information. We strongly encourage users with disputes to "take it outside" and away from our discussion venues.

We reserve the right to ban repeat offenders temporarily or permanently.

    Do respect copyright laws.

We like people who post original content. Otherwise, play on the safe side and credit the source, or consider linking to it instead.

We encourage people to poke around and get sucked into our site.

If you find something you like and want to share it with your friends and family, don't hesitate to bookmark it, embed it or email the URL to spread the good word about the good fight.

Don't think I can stress this enough

Personal attacks via PM, reputations, on posts will not be tolerated. A member was recently banned for the next 2 months for doing just that. I don't care what anyone's opinion is about the team when it comes to banning, etc. I care a lot about how you treat others. PMs and reputations are not fair game... Also, keep in mind admins can see reputations.... All of them.

Be civil or you get to take a time out like one of our friends here.

          Injury Gossip

Discussion about unsubstantiated injuries/surgeries, etc., concerning student-athletes is a serious topic that needs to be taken seriously.

In a recent thread there was "talk" of an unsubstantiated injury, which led to a "soon deleted" dramatic, headline grabbing thread about that unsubstantiated injury and it's "concerning" impact on the team and recruiting.

Nothing good comes from this type of discussion ... and, per input from representatives of the school (and Athletic Department) the exact opposite happens.

So ... moving forward, please know that unsubstantiated injury topics are subject to aggressive board moderation .... and please remember:

As a board member, one "may" have some insights/knowledge or educated speculation about a subject that threatens a student athlete's privacy. Please think twice before posting. Thanks.

I feel the need to add a post to this thread as a reminder. Here are some reminders: 1) NO POLITICS! 2) NO POLITICS! 3)NO POLITICS!

Why did I repeat it three times? Because in the advertising game they say if you say it three times they remember. Also, because when you start to discuss politics, more often than not, you tend to not remotely think with your heads.

Case in point, I got several complaints about people violating board rules by insulting people, over politics, in PMs. If it isn't acceptable on the board, it isn't acceptable in a PM either. For the record, you can, and people have been in the past, be banned for PMs.

            Get it? Got it? Good!
