Default The Foo ‘Best Rock of the 21st Century’ Thread

I think the only traditional rock bands post-2000 that put out great new music is limited to Green Day, the White Stripes, and Blink-182

    Fight me.

I would never fight with DZ, but I will take on the challenge of sharing some good rock music from the past twenty years.

Clearly, the problem is me, because I'm nowhere near cool enough to have heard of half of those.

I do not doubt that they're really good.

I did actually want to start a conversation about it and didn't know if it deserved a thread.

Honestly, I'm not that adventurous enough when it comes to music. I try to hunt down great live versions of what I already know rather than branch out.

Some good stuff for me to go over, thx.

Don't be fooled by these knuckleheads, DZ. There haven't been any new rock bands after '79.

I wanna play, but I don't think I even know what a rock band is anymore. But I'll try anyway. Gotta even it up a little bit, not much in the way of female fronted bands posted yet.

There's another version of this video that's a bit too weird to post, so I'll go with this one. Believe it or not this is little Cindy Lou Who from the 2000 live action film "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" all growed up.

This might be a bit of a stretch, but I"m pretty sure I heard some blues and some funk in some of the other songs posted, so I'm leaning country on this one. I saw these guys live, they definitely rock. They started in the 90s but they've kept going.

Oh, and this is borrowing (with permission) a Bob Dylan tune, but totally new lyrics they wrote.

I had to look them up, I was thinking late 90s but they were actually early 2000s. It's really hard to pick which song to use, they had some jams. If you like this one, check out "All Around Me," "I'm So Sick" and "Fully Alive."

I didn't like this band that much at first, but they grew on me. Some of their stuff I can pass on but they had several hit songs that I like.

This one hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it, different than anything I'd encountered before (I found out later plenty of Euro bands had been doing something kinda similar for years before Evanescence came around, but oh well). The record company forced the male singer on the band for their first single. He's pretty mediocre compared to the stunning voice of Amy Lee.

Looking them up just now, I forgot how many hits Paramore had. They were big the first decade of the 2000s. Hayley was pretty iconic with her red hair.
