Default Manny Arop attends Canadian National team open tryouts

In what is typical Canadian fashion, the National team held open tryouts recently Iimagine the the USA doing that.....

Manny and some of his NEDA teamates attended the tryouts and Manny was quoted in the following article from the Basketball Canada website.

He seems to like any challenges he can find.

Thanks, OZ. That's a mighty tall order for young Mangisto but you gotta love his attitude and hunger to learn from the seasoned veterans.

Will Nash be playing for Canada in China this summer?

    BZ,

It is unlikely, perhaps 10% chance, but while there is any chance at all, all Canadians will be praying for it to happen.

    Three factors are at play.

#1 Steve has a young family (twin daughters) and a foundation that he is quite involved with. He lives in New York in the offseason and usually plays semi-pro soccer to keep in shape.

#2 Steve was close to Team Canada's previous head coach, Jay Triano (who has since been picked up as a consultant bu USA basketball). When Jay was pushed out by the Canada Basketball board, and Leo Rautins (with no real previous coaching experience) was installed, Steve got very upset.

#3 On a positive note, with the Suns exiting early this year, wear and tear would not be as much of an issue as in the past, Steve is very patriotic and with the chance to make it to the Olympics if they place third ot better he might putt his hand up. If the team had qualified last year directly for the Olympics then I think he would have been a 50/50 chance of playing (he starred in the 2000 Olympics here in Sydney, before he was really acknowledged as a star in the NBA)

    We all can hope.

If by 10%, you mean 0%, then I agree. Nash has said on record numerous times that his days playing or Canada are over. He loved Triano and has no respect for Rautins.

Rautins is a joke. So is his son.
