What do you guys mean? I looked in the rule book and there's no foul in NCAA basketball for hip-checking.You have to love the Gonzaga fan. Not satisfied to be affronted merely by common hosings at the hands of ragtag referees, he plows all avenues of discontent. - John Blanchette
Gonzaga University...Home of the Zags...The Bulldogs. If you pronounce it "Gone Zaw Ga," they'll know you're not from here and they may charge you more for your coffee. - Garrison Keillor

UNC is not in same league as Kansas, Memphis, UCLA
Kenpom.com defensive efficiency:
Memphis - 1
Kansas - 2
UCLA - 6
UNC - 38
Defensive FG %:
Memphis - 38%
Kansas - 38%
UCLA - 40%
UNC - 42%
PPG Allowed:
UCLA - 56.1
Kansas - 58.4
Memphis - 60.5
UNC - 70.1
Kenpom.com offensive efficiency:

North Carolina has major problems stopping people compared to their undefeated colleagues.
BTW...Gonzaga now ranks at 28 in defensive efficiency. Opponents are shooting 39% against them, and GU is allowing 63.1 PPG. Compare this to the defensive efficiency numbers of recent GU teams:
2004 = 40
2005 = 117
2006 = 178
2007 = 80

Re:
I know Dykes referred to the refs as using "common sense" by not issuing Hewitt a technical foul for being blatantly out of the coaching box, but that rule is supposed to be strictly enforced, regardless of the game situation.
But much like other points of emphasis in recent years, coaching decorum is being less monitored and enforced as the season moves along....even though there are supposed to be supervisors out there to make sure the refs are doing their job.
BTW....what helped Gonzaga make up for their terrible defense in 2006 was their #1 rated offensive efficiency and possessing the ultimate transcendent player in Ammo.

tough loss for gtech...it was a shame they couldn't get a call down the stretch. I like hansbrough, great player but i really get sick of how often the refs bail him out. they never call him for travelling (which he does a LOT) and if he shoots the ball in traffic it is an automatic foul.
I wish gtech could have pulled that off.
Kansas is SCARY good.john montana
