Dec. 5, 2007: Hobbs runs past Lee boys
Lee Passmore
12/05/2007

The pros and cons of playing a breakneck style of basketball were on display Tuesday night at Chaparral Center when the Lee boys hosted Hobbs, N.M., and the Rebels ended up dealing with most of the cons.

That's because Hobbs is a team which likes to run even more than Lee, and the Eagles soared past the Rebels 83-66 to drop Lee below .500 again on the season. It wasn't so much that Lee (4-5) was overmatched against Hobbs as it was the Eagles rising to the occasion and never looking back.
...
.... the Eagles seemed to find another gear at the right time, going on a 21-3 run and going into the locker room with a 46-35 halftime lead. Jeff Taylor provided the spark during that run, scoring nine points, and he finished with a game-high 29 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles.
...
Where Taylor's presence was especially felt for Hobbs was on the boards, as the Eagles outrebounded the Rebels 37-22.
...
Hobbs (5-0) -- Allen Tate 5-8 1-2 13, Derrek Peterson 3-4 0-0 6, Jordan Manney 3-7 0-0 8, Tyler Turner 3-7 0-0 6, Jeff Taylor 9-13 11-17 29, Lamar Brooks 1-2 0-0 2, Josh Sanders 0-1 2-2 2, Juhreece Thompson 6-9 5-6 17, Adam Marinovich 0-1 0-0 0, Josh Dunlap 0-0 0-0 0. Totals 30-52 19-27 83.
...
Next game: Lee vs. Big Spring, 11 a.m. Friday, Chaparral Center, pool play of Tall City Oilman's Classic; Lee vs. Rockwall, 8:30 p.m. Friday, Chap Center, pool play game.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell us whether these have anything interesting inside?

Sorry Rubbadub, no mention of Gonzaga in either article. Our affections must be elsewhere. Recent article about Silva pretty much excludes him as a GU prospect.

Who's Jeff Taylor? I don't see him as a potential recruit on scouts.com (not to say they're always accurate and up to date). http://gonzaga.scout.com/a.z?s=130&p=9&cfg=bb&c=4&yr=2009

Please shed some light, thanks much.

For CJM and others...

What I do when someone makes a reference to a recruit or subject that I do not remember talking about or seeing is click on "Search" on the horizontal bar up top and look it up. "Jeff Taylor" gets 56 matches.

Scout is worthless for tracking Zag recruits. If you use the search feature on this board, you'll find 28 other threads about Taylor. I think he's #1 on BobZag's wish list right now.

Here is a list of some threads you can look at on this board for info on young Mr. Taylor: http://www.guboards.spokesmanreview.com/search.php?searchid=47563

*Rubbadub and I posted at the same time. That's 56 individual posts and 28 threads. We're lucky on this board to have a really good search feature, unlike the Scout boards, which have none.

Is J. Taylor an '08 or '09 recruit?

Everytime I visit other teams scout sites (not GU's, it stinks) I can't believe the "new" scout boards STILL don't have ANY search function. I'm so glad those that run this board jumped ship when they did and came to this site.

Ain't that the truth!
