Luke Babbitt and the Galena Grizzlies are playing the state final tonight.

Putting 36 points and grabbing 20 rebounds to get there is impressive. Would fill in the 4 spot nicely. Although I know many don't care he's now a 5 star on Scout, 4 on Rivals.

I see in the article that AZ coach Lute Olson was in attendance. . .

Babbitt & Budinger. . .would make quite a tandem in the 08 - 09 campaign

Budinger will be long gone by 08/09. In fact, Budinger could be gone after this season. He's a projected top 10 lottery pick:

Galena High School is celebrating a 54-51 win over Mojave and a state boys' basketball championship.
The Grizzlies won the Class 4A state semifinals at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Galena led at 28-18 at halftime.
Galena junior Luke Babbitt scored 11 points in the first half.
Galena, a school in its 15th year, gives Northern Nevada something it hasn't had in more than 50 years -- back-to-back large-school state titles. Reno, which gave the North its first state title last year since South Tahoe in 1992, won consecutive titles in 1954 and 1955.

Congrats to Luke and the Galena (Reno ) basketball team.

Babbitt showed against Mojave how it should be done at the biggest moment, hitting a clutch 3-pointer with 1:18 to play to give the Grizzlies a 52-51 lead.

"Great players make great shots," Maurer said. "Luke wanted the ball."

The 6-foot-8 junior, who said he would announce his college choice this week, scored a game-high 25 points. His 61 points in his two state tournament games led all players in the Class 4A tournament.

Since he hasn't visited Gonzaga I guess it's safe to assume that his choice is down to three schools: Ohio State, Arizona & Nevada.

Yeah, I'd say GU currently has about a 0.02% chance of getting him.

So let me take this time to be the first to say:

GU didn't want him anyway.

My guess would have to be Arizona. With Lute showing up at the state tournament and all. That just might have pushed Luke that last little bit to show him how much AZ wants him.

It would be a huge upset if he verbaled to UNR. . .but stranger things have happened.

He's probably sick of the Reno winters, too. . .have been here since '94 and the longer I'm here, the less patient I get for Spring to arrive. . .must be due to growing up in Nor Cal weather:)

Ah lothar, don't be defensive, you know GU wante(d)s Babbbitt.

Too bad, I'm betting he is a 4 year contributer at, OSU is my bet.

It's disappointing that GU didn't even get a visit from Babbitt. I know he visited OSU, he's already familiar with UNR, and Arizona was also a final 4 contender for his services. Did Babbitt visit UofA at all? I don't recall ever seeing anything about him visiting there.

My guess is OSU...

I would really be surprised if he attends UNR, but it would be a great thing if they could get him. He has been probably told a thousand times that Mark Fox is just waiting for the right BCS job.

My money says Ohio State, although I don't feel that's the best place for him to go. OSU just has too much talent coming in...he needs to go where he can get more touches.

GU's chances likely went out the window when it was announced that he would make his decision without visiting GU. The Zags need to have most top level prospects visit if they want to have a chance to land them.

Just in case it wasn't obvious - it was a joke.
