    Upset Watch:

Thursday: Western Kentucky over No. 14 Gonzaga

The Hilltoppers, the preseason favorite in the Sun Belt, take on Gonzaga in the Great Alaska Shootout with senior scoring-machine guard Courtney Lee, who has demonstrated he can take over games. Lee will match up against high-energy Gonzaga guard Jeremy Pargo. The Zags are loaded with 6-10 freshman combo forward Austin Daye, sophomore guard Matt Bouldin and forward Larry Gurganious accounting for the majority of the scoring until big man Josh Heytvelt returns from foot injury. Western Kentucky is a solid defensive team and will play with toughness. Senior point guard Tyrone Brazelton will get Lee touches and can call his own number when needed. With good guard play and solid defense, the Toppers have a chance.

    More freshmen:

Austin Daye, Gonzaga: He's on his way to having a major impact this season with 18 points in a win over Idaho and 16 points in a win over UC Riverside.

hahaha, he also cites St. Maries over the Ducks and MT over WSU. I won't say much about the SMC/OU game, but one thing I know for sure is Montucky doesn't stand a chance against WSU.

Of all those upset potentials, I would put my $$$ on West Virginia over Tennessee. WV is consistently underrated, Lofton is shooting like crap so far, and Huggins makes Pearl look like a cry-baby wuss. My guess is Pearl sweats through his suit and WV beats 'em by 12.

These predictions are always so lovely when they come from someone so knowledgeable about the GU program. Everyone knows that LG is relied upon for scoring, right? Looks like the guy simply looked at the top 4 scoring leaders after the Idaho game, which included the four names he listed but now has Kuso bumping LG down a notch. What insight. Bet the guy hasn't seen one GU game this year.

With that said, Western Kentucky can bring it and if GU doesn't come to play, they'll take a L. Uber would look for Micah & LG to cover Lee (not likely Pargo--for two reasons: no length and potential foul trouble--Pargo's spot in the lineup has the least depth and losing him to fouls would hurt GU the most plus he covers Brazelton). Uber would also not go past the 12 minute mark to employ double teams on Lee if he is hitting. WK can get up and down and can score the ball pretty good--GU must play Idaho second half D for the entire 40 minutes.

Wonder when WK flies out? It'll be interesting to see how they react to playing a game at 12:30 AM their time.
If you can't handle the confusion, stay out of the Foo!

My favorite portion of that whole link is this:

We have a new feature beginning Mondays in the Weekly Watch and on "SportsCenter." Every team in the country is eligible for the mid-major poll except those in the Big Six conferences (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and Pac-10) as well as Gonzaga (WCC) and Memphis (C-USA).
