can anyone give me the name of 2 or 3 bars in Spokane that actually have ESPNU?

We're having an early Thanksgiving dinner & then have to find a bar so we can watch the game!

I really want to avoid driving all the way out to N.Quest Casino if I can avoid it :)

Does Hangar 57 have ESPNU? Anything up on the South Hill? Kids will be at sister's up there and would rather not drive far. My brother wants to watch it at Hooters. Wife vetoed that. :(

I'm not much of poster, but I'm on here lurking every night! Thanks to all you regular posters, I get my Zag info and several chuckles here! They are both greatly appreciated!:D

Anyhoo, I'm spending Thanksgiving in Hermiston OR (doesn't everyone??) and I'm having trouble finding a place to see the Zags on Thurs. I've been calling a few sports bars in the Tri-Cities area that I've found on dexknows, but I'm not having any luck with ESPNU. The Sports Page thinks they have U, but suggested I double check with the boss tomorrow. Is anyone familiar with any potential venues I should check out?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated! I'm starting to feel withdrawals coming on!

Thanks MickMick, I have called them and apparently they don't get ESPNU. Same goes for Player's Sports Bar. I'm crossing my fingers for Sports Page. If you think of any other potential spots, I'd greatly appreciate the tip. Thanks!

When I lived in Issaquah, I made the trek downtown to Sport to watch games if I didn't do so at home (it's only 25 mins w/o traffic). I don't know any bars on the eastside that might get the U - I never found any in Renton or Redmond. There must be at least one in Bellevue somewhere, but I don't know where. Sorry.

Birddog
11-19-2007, 05:32 AM
How can any joint calling itself a "sports bar" not have ESPNU? This is crazy. If they have satellite service, then they likely have the "U". If they are relying on Cable, then they are not a "sports bar", just a bar that has some TV's.

I can't speak for Dish, but if you have DirecTV, the "U" is included in the Sports pkg. I would assume this to be the same with their commercial pkgs. In the past I have found it necessary to talk to the Mgr however, many times the waitress or hostess that answers the phone has no idea what is available on the satellite.

Good luck,

Birddog

Hooter

NONE of them are open after 5pm on Thanksgiving day

Heroes & Leg (wants to be open, but right now has no staff) - so, unknown

However, Sullivan Scoreboard (on Sullivan 1 block north of Sprague) IS open! Scott the owner will be working & says he would love to have a huge group of GU fans congregate there & watch the game with him.

If anyone wants to meet up there with me pm me & we can set up a time to meet up.

The Sports Bar Association of Eastern Washington, would like to take this opportunity to thank :espn: for placing a Zag game on an unworthy sister station unavailable via most cable providers. By only allowing those people with satellite, Dish, or Direct TV access to the game, you have effectively driven them from their homes on Thanksgiving and into our establishments.

Well, I just spoke to Norman at Chips Casino in Tacoma and he says they have direct TV and they never miss a game and he is certain it will be on. I told him I would hold him to it and he said no sweat since he will be home by then. I couldn't get him to go to the TV and verify for 100% certainty that they have ESPNU so I am still a bit nervous, but will probably make the 20 minute drive anyway.

In San Diego, Seau's The Restaurant told me they will be showing Zags-St Joe's at 5 pm on several screens. The address is 1640 Camino del Rio No. on the east end of the Mission Valley Mall. Pretty good bar food and happy hour drinks; ph 619-291-7328.

Me too, along with about 5 other recent grads. See you there!

Sounds like Jillians is the place to be, see everyone there. I am a little concerned that there will be throngs of people out trying to see the Green Bay vs. Dallas game tonight since it is on NFL network.

I'm going to try to get there around 4:45 if I can and get a booth or a good spot in front of a T.V. It's going to be a great game to watch; can't wait!

Ranger:

As Uber mentioned in another thread, a group of us will be at Chip's Casino again. For those that went there last time, you should all come again. Good viewing, cheap beers and sound.

I ended up a Freddies in Fife for the GAS....it was near my cousins home in East Tacoma. Should have gone to Chips.

Anyone going to be watching the game on Wed in the Seattle area? I went to Jillian's last week and was a little disappointed. TV's were bad quality and they stuck us in the game room because of the Thursday night football game. What about F.X. McRory's? They always seem to be accomodating to Zag fans. I think I might head there. Who's with me?

So from what I have gathered from this thread Swinging Doors, Northern Quest, Hooters are places to watch the game. I also heard Fast Eddies has ESPNU but that they have been taking reservations for three weeks now, at least that is what I heard on the news. Any other places I have not heard of?

I'd rather not head over to Jillians if the tv quality was bad. Any other options or is FX the best?

The alumni chapter is sponsoring game watches at F.X. McRory's, Sport, The RAM at Northgate and the Pumphouse in Bellevue.

I'll be at F.X. McRory's along with some recent grads. They always accomodate Gonzaga fans well and will have food specials for the game.

Pumphouse is okay, but no sound and tame crowd. If you want to have fun, join me and others at Time Out in Kirkland. Waaay better TVs, central sound system that will pump through the whole bar for us.

Even if you're in Seattle, I'd recommend this joint. I have several friends from Seattle meeting me here...

In the first place, there has never been a better example of a just war in my opinion than that waged against Wazzu. They are evil incarnate. I know many of you Inland Empirer chaps suffer from what must be regarded as ambivalent feelings, which means you are really subject to muddled thinking in the end. That said, I want to see this. And here in Napa, there is not a single sports bar that carries the ESPNU option. (A comment on the provincialism still rampant in these parts).

I have discovered for those of you who live in the East Bay that they will show the game at the Stadium Pub Sports Bar in Walnut Creek. It is a full 45 minute drive from Napa, but Silicon will be there. There is yet another reason to go to this Sports Bar. The last time I watched a game there involving the Zags was against the UW, and they won. The Zags are 1-0 with Sili watching at the Stadium Pub. Of course a victory over the chickens is one thing, but the truly important battle, is against the loathsome Cougar.

If there are any of you bay area chaps who wish to join Sili for a libation at the Stadium Pub, I shall arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to make certain that the barman has it on his list. Remember Zag fans, that the Cougars hate us for our freedom. And always have. Sili

Silicon-

If you make it to the Stadium Pub, tell Patti (one of the owners) that we say hi. She knows us well. I'm not sure if she has forgiven me for the Zags blowing her bracket a few years ago but she is a sweetheart. We haven't been there much lately, but it's a good place and they would always put the game on for us when it was tough to find the games down here a few years back. Now that we have the cable package and an 18 month old, the trips to the sports bar have been drastically scaled back.

Slug and I are going to be in Dublin at the sports bar there (it was one of the places listed by the SF Chapter). Only 5 minutes from home and the sleeping little one (don't worry, the grandparents will be in the house with her).

Any other East Bay Zags going to make it out to join us? Wed nights are tough, but Nana and Grandpa bailed us out on this one.

Champs Sports bar in Reston (Sunset Hills Dr. near Reston Town Center) VA will be showing the game. Of course it's an 11pm start...you gotta want it! I'll be there for sure...bartender said others had already inquired so we should have a few loyal late night fans.

Been reading for ages, but have never posted, but my dilemma has warranted me to ask a favor.

I am a Spokanite and am going to be at a conference at Seattle University on Saturday. The conference ends at 5:00 pm and the San Francisco game begins at 5:00 pm on ESPNU. Any advice for where to watch the game, near Seattle U? I don't know the area very well, won't have a vehicle (but am willing to take a cab, as long as it doesn't take too long since I don't have any time between the end of the event and the start of the game), and would love to be around other Zag fans. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I manage Lindamans restaurant on the South Hill and we have ESPNU. While this game isnt exactly GU-WAZZU material, I am curious if there is going to be a big demand for seats for this game. We brought in an extra TV in the dining room for the cougs game and could do the same thing again, but Im curious if this game will have the same draw. Thoughts???
