Pepperdine lost to the Big West conference CSU Northridge Matadors last night. One of their fans ("orangefro") puts an interesting theological twist on the traditional "blame the refs" excuse:

Refs hate Christians. It's the only explanation I've been able to come to since my time at Pepperdine. Refs just hate Christians. Conference play is even worse -- has to be strictly Catholic officiating with our conference, I'm sure.

Surely if the referees in the WCC were Church of Christ adherants, Pepperdine would not have had back-to-back 20 loss seasons.
