I think this is going to be an exciting game.

Here are the headlines from Nevada's site about last night game in cheney
"Nevada Comes From Behind to Beat Eastern Washington 74-68"
Game Notes:
* Nevada picked up its first-ever road win over Eastern Washington with a 74-68 win in Cheney, Wash. Thursday night.
* With the win, Nevada improved to 2-3 all-time in road openers under Gervasoni.
* Sophomore Marianne Lombardi made her first start of the season.
* Megan Cherry made her collegiate debut for Nevada.
*Coty Feest tied her career high, scoring eight points.

Lets not let them get another road win!!!!!

This homestand gets tougher and tougher with Montana and Marquette following Nevada. Personally, Nevada barely beating EWU tells me today's game could be a 20-point win for GU. I hope it's closer than that because it'll help the team down the road in close games, but I have a ton of confidence and optimism for these Zags.

I'm on my way in now.

Sorry you didn't get your wish BZ. :D

Was it a track meet, or are they just that much better?

They are just that much better. I only missed it by 40ish. :)

Gonzaga University’s women’s basketball team used solid offensive execution and a defensive tenacity to rout the University of Nevada 93-55 Saturday afternoon in front of 1,532 fans at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

With Spokane product Heather Bowman recording her fifth career double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Tiffanie Shives coming off the bench to score 17 points with her parents seeing her play for the first time as a Bulldog, Gonzaga hit the 90-point plateau for the second time in as many games this season. The Bulldogs opened the 2008 campaign with a 91-72 home win over the University of Washington last Monday.

Nevada (2-2) held an early 9-4 lead, but the Bulldogs came back to tie the game 9-9 and had extended the lead to 21-11 with 9:54 to go in the first half after a 17-2 run. Five different players scored during the run, with Shives scoring six of the points. Gonzaga pushed the lead to as many as 22 points in the opening half, leading 41-19 with 2:50 to go before settling for a 43-23 halftime lead.

Bowman had her double-double by halftime with 13 points and 10 rebounds, going 4-for-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Her 14 rebounds were one shy of matching her career high set last season at Santa Clara University. Michelle Elliott scored all 10 of her points in the first half, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line.

Shives and freshman Courtney Vandersloot were the offensive catalysts in the second half for the Bulldogs. Shives went 3-for-5 from the field in the second half, including 2-for-2 from 3-point range, to score 10 second-half points. Vandersloot, with seven points in the first half, added six more in the second half.

The Bulldogs also displayed pinpoint passing, collecting 23 assists. Shives added eight assists, while Vandersloot and Rachel Kane had six each.

Defensively the Bulldogs forced 20 Nevada turnovers that led to 22 points, and Gonzaga had six steals and two blocks. Gonzaga also won the battle of the boards 46-28. In addition to Bowman’s 14 boards, Maria Hassett came off the bench to grab eight. Gonzaga held Nevada to 26.7 percent from the field in the first half, and 32.8 percent for the game as the Wolf Pack had numerous three-and-four minute scoring droughts in the contest.

The Bulldogs shot 54.2 percent from the field, including 17-for-28 for 60.7 percent in the second half. Gonzaga also connected on 22-of-24 free throws.

Head coach Kelly Graves was able to go deep into his bench as Janelle Bekkering was the only starter to play more than nine minutes in the second half with 12. Nine players played double-digit minutes in the game.

The Bulldogs, who play their first four games at home, return to action Monday at 7 p.m. against the University of Montana.
