Gonzaga's January 5th foe in the Spokane Arena.

The Athens Banner-Herald and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that Humphrey was charged with being in possession of a pocket knife that was more than two inches long, a violation of university policy.

In most parts of the South, they call a knife less than 3 inches long a "toothpick".

"Well, I just seen red. I picked up a kaiser blade that was a layin' there by the screen door, some folks calls it a sling blade, I call it a kaiser blade. It's just a long handle like a axe handle with a long blade on it that's shaped kind of like a banana. Sharp on one edge and dull on the other. It's what the highway boys use to cut down weeds and whatnot. I went in the kitchen there and I hit Jesse Dixon upside the head with it and knocked him off my mother."

Karl Childers, "Sling Blade" (http://www.weeklyscript.com/Sling%20Blade.txt) by Billy Bob Thornton

and yet too true, still made me spill my coffee laughing...nice.
(I used to deer hunt with my cross country coach after practice - different times, I don't think a .270 Winchester would be welcome in many highschool parking lots nowadays.)

MD, That was great. I'm not sure if I should laugh at the humor of what you wrote or shake my head over the reality of what was said.

According to the ESPN "crawl line," Georgia dismissed another player today. . .Mike Mercer (http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=26862) a 6-4 Guard for violation of team rules. . .

You know, Dennis Felton was hired, in part, to clean up the mess that Harrick created.....yet the program's troubles just continue.

I would hate to be a UGA basketball fan and season ticket holder right now.

They're actually going to hurt our RPI probably with all the defections in the early going... wow. Not looking pretty for them in the SEC sched. And I really wanted to whoop them with all their players back. Oh well.

Maybe this latest dismissal is a continuation of the "house cleaning."

What's worse is that I keep getting asked if my well-worn red Gonzaga hat with "GU" on the front and a Bulldog is a Georgia hat!

A colleague of mine pulled my name in a gift exchange a few years ago. He gave me a hat with a Georgetown Hoya on it. . .and no, I didn't tell him. I thanked him for the Zags hat.

Mike Mercer being dismissed is huge. He was a nightmare matchup for us last year as he was too fast and athletic for any of our guys to cover. I was looking forward to seeing LG try his hand at stopping him this year.
