    Dickie

Dickie V’s all blue blood, mostly, best of list. Must have taken his flunky 5 minutes to put together. No mention of Zags, arguably a top 5 program in the decade.

Dick Vitale looks back fondly on a thrilling decade in college basketball, identifying his top players, teams, coaches and games.

Jazz I doubt he actually did the research on these topics...he likes Coach Few and feel comfortable that "IF" he had done the research, he would have included the winiest MBB Coach of this past decade on that list...

I think he is just too old and doesn't have the time to research himself but probably has a few people on his staff that does all the leg work...

Not sure why the GU vs Duke game in Maui didn't make the list, especially since we beat his player of the decade

Definitely some recency bias in addition to the standard blue blood bias. Would like to think Few would have gotten a look for our decade of success...oh well

Zags have come into National greatness the last half decade. 2010 - 2014 were all Round of 32 exits. Not hideous* compared to most programs but certainly not the 5 straight Sweet 16’s (including 3 Elite 8’s ... a Final Four and an NT game in the last half decade).

At least that is my opinion.

*Not hideous ..... but did earn the “Jazz” created Moniker of “Few32”. So glad that is a thing of the past.

Ancient history, like cave drawings. Zags arguably 2d best CBB program last half decade, behind Nova. And thisclose to more E8s and F4s throughout the period. But don’t wake Dickie. He only has eye for the Tobacco Road duo.

All east coast Jazz. It's all he knows. One tip of the hat to to Izzo. Outside of that, there is NO player, coach or team awards to anything west of the Mississippi. He's limited in his purview. No breadth or depth. He's an old east coaster and it shows. No worries. This may be our decade beginning today! We are an exceptional program. We just finished an amazing decade.

Yes, I think you nailed it.

Vitale is just a wonderful man who is so knowledgeable about so many things, but college basketball isn't necessarily one of those top things anymore.

As one, I believe the east coast thing is real. But with Vitale it’s about his falling in love with a handful of iconic coaches. His ardor for the general is legendary. Hardly an east coaster. Smith, K, Roy, et al. Vitale’s safe place is with a HoF coach. He’s coach-centric. Geography is irrelevant, imo.

Oh, come on. (Well written by the way).

Geography may not be THE most important thing, but the man is now unable to even travel out west much, and most of the blue blood programs are in the east, so the bias is also real. East coast definitely has something to do with it.

College basketball itself is actually coach-centric, especially now that one and dones are everything.
