Lots of talk about how the Hokie fans are going to the fill the arena in D.C. Blacksburg is only 260 miles down the road. However, Durham is just about as far, and the Dukie fans have always played and showed well in D.C. I am sure it's a nice trip for their own referees as well :)

Texas Tech and Michigan??? The first team to 60?? The winner could be exhausted on Saturday. Especially if the west region final is the first game on Saturday.

Anyone know if Ty Outlaw is playing for the Hokies? Apparently, he got arrested for drug possession. Duke's path got a bit easier if so.

My guess is he will since they knew about arrest last week and he played last weekend

I thought they executed the search warrant on his place while he was out of town in San Jose at the tournament, and was charged upon his return.

Virginia Techís Ty Outlaw has been charged with possession of marijuana, potentially jeopardizing his status for the remainder of the NCAA Tournament.

That article makes no sense.

The sixth-year senior was charged March 21, the day after he and the Hokies arrived in San Jose...

[T]he warrant was obtained on March 25 and not served until March 26.

Horrible reporting. Charged before evidence of a crime was discovered? Suuuuure. I'm suspicious about this whole case. Cops smelled something, later got a warrant when he was out of town, and then charged him with possession. I would think a good lawyer ought to get this charge tossed out.

If the NCAA drug tests the team this week because of this, that's another story.

My understanding is a call to 911 about narcotic upon arrival smelled
Marijuana but no one home. Sought warrant. Served warrant next day and discovered burnt marijuana. Regular marijuana and controlled substances (pills)

Didnít he have heart issue? Medical needs? Issued summons while he was traveling with team

Not the strongest of criminal activity nor probable cause although a judge did sign the search warrant

Might be something to the bilas conspiracy ( haaa)

The sad irony is that Ty Outlaw is 23 years old, so he's of legal drinking age and also of legal marijuana age and was actually in one of the states that allow it when all this occurred in his apartment 3000 miles form him.

Marijuana is still illegal in VA, but does anyone else find this to be a completely stupid waste of energy and resources? He could have been legally smoking weed every day while his team was in CA. Is it a big issue if some existed in his apartment in Virginia at the time?

I'm glad he will play and the police should have something better to do with themselves.

Someone look up where the district attorney in that area went to school.

Don't put anything past the Dookies. They stole a game on live TV last weekend. Zion, being the only player in D-1 who could foul two people on his way to the hoop and get an "And one" which he promptly misses, only to have UCF players suddenly dive to the floor, paving the way for the go-ahead points.

Not that I'm bitter. But having seen that, I wouldn't put it past a Duke D.A. to go on a "tip" he got from friends concerning the Fourth Seed's, cough, Virginia Tech basketball player.

Good for V-Tech for not sitting him immediately.

The whole thing seems weird - the "disturbance" occurred, the search warrant was issued, and the search was conducted... all while Va Tech was in California. Outlaw wasn't at home at any point. I saw a quote from the DA saying that someone does not need to be at home to be charged with possession. Seems like BS to me.

I followed Duke closely for many years but quickly dropped them when Coach K just cursed one of the officials, because he didn't like the call AND the official didn't give him a "T"...

I hope VT learned from the UCF game and plays them similarly and I think they can win...

Apparently his apartment was busted into by police while the team was in San Jose last week. Buzz demanded that Outlaw get a drug test before any decision was made and Outlaw came up clean so he is playing.

One need not be anywhere to be "charged" with anything. Yes, I am in complete agreement, something seems really off about this.

Maybe they just thought his last name constituted probable cause?

Don't see a lot of Kindergarten teachers named "Ms. Outlaw," name is more befitting of a biker, or banker, or the guy that beats Duke to take his team to the Elite 8.

Busted in? Seems to imply illegal entry. Search warrant sought. Search warrant granted. Lawful entry

As I said seems odd beginning g with original call to 911 for narcitics complaint. Someone with axe to grind?

Would have to assume they have proof his sole occupant to the apartment otherwise lacking probable cause for possession

Big come back by Tennessee in 2nd half. They took the lead, but instead of folding Purdue has been answering them shot for shot the last couple minutes. Cline has been huge, hitting 3 after 3. Tennessee just went up on a put back w/ 8.8 seconds left.

Not many guys go to the line down 2 with 3 shots, miss the first one, then hit the next 2

That takes big stones.

Most if they miss the first, miss the second by bigger amount.

Honestly folks, Texas Tech's defense will always be there, but I just cannot see them playing this good against GU on Saturday if the two teams meet. I just went to kenpom. The best offensive team in the Big 12 this year was Iowa State (#16, 118.7). Texas Tech is at #34 on offense (113.1), but for most of the year, they stunk. They do have Culver, which is a major worry for GU, and someone will have to check him. GU is number one in offense, even after the FSU win. They are at 125.0. That's a 11.9 disparity between GU and TT on offense. That is big. The Big 12 doesn't have a trio of bigs anywhere near Clarke, Rui and Tillie. I also see Few enjoying a major coaching advantage in an elite 8 game vs. TT. He's just been there too many times. And it will be a short notice game, and possibly the 1st game on Saturday on CBS.

Question:

If Oregon beats UVA, do you feel Purdue/Oregon is the first game on Saturday, or does GU/TT get that first game??? The first game will tip around 3pm, so fans don't need to worry about crazy 9am tip times. I think anything that gives Beard less prep time plays to GU's advantage. But I get a feeling they may give GU/TT the second game if the Ducks survive.

How did that Michigan team...

Beat Nova by 30

Beat North Carolina by 20 (right before we played them)

Beat Purdue by 20 (who just advanced to E8).

Not to mention numerous other Tourney teams.

Texas Tech didn't just demoralize them, they looked like they were toying with them.
