"Survive and Advance."

Well, it might not apply so much to today's Gonzaga game because after the WCC final loss to St. Mary's, it is super important for them to go out there, get on FD early, and act and FEEL like a #1 seed. No messing around. It's a special circumstance....today.

But after today, this tourney for the Zags is REALLY going to be about surviving and advancing. Withers talking about grinder games. The possibility of facing Syracuse's famous zone. The long, lengthy Florida State defense. Michigan's vicious D and one of the greatest point of attack defenders college ball has seen in years: Zavier Simpson. The possibility of a power packed final four. There could be some upsets along the way.....hopefully in GU's region, and not involving GU.

But for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, they just need to survive and advance. Other than maybe today, how you perform in round 2 really should not have any influence on how you do in round 4 from a psychological viewpoint. We have seen teams who needed a buzzer beater in round 2 get all the way to the title game.

Whether it's a win by 8, 16, 32, 11, 4 or 1, the Zags just have to win the game, move on, and get on with constructing their best game plan possible for that next opponent, and giving it their all-time best shot. The time for worrying how you are playing is now over.

Amen.

Two years ago we ground out a win against WVU before putting on a clinic vs. Xavier. The two games could not have been more different.

Whatever it takes, just win baby!

It was asked (in a thread that got locked) how do you beat FSU?

The front court had better than the season average. Yeah, it was mostly one guy, but the points are the same.

The back court had the season average. Sure it was Corey instead of Zach, but the points are the same.

And Tillie only had 2 with Geno adding 3. How many times would you expect the Zags bench to be held to 5 points? Is this the first time this season?

Zags just have to keep going one game at a time and finding the next man up, and they will keep winning.
