Congratulations to the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights (21-13), winners of the NEC and first game of the First Four (shouldn't it be first eight, since there are eight teams? That always bothered me).

FDU has a campus further north and further west than Spokane. It does!!! in Vancouver, British Columbia! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairleigh_Dickinson_University#Vancouver_Campus) 842 Cambie Street! Who knew?! Their Canadian campus seems to be more well known than their basketball forum (has anyone found one yet?)!

Anyway, the Knights' best win was a 77-66 win at Princeton on 11/26. The highest ranked team they played all season was Providence on 11/27, when they lost by 10. Their second highest ranked opponent was Rutgers during their opening game, when they lost 55-90 while away. The remainder of their games were against teams essentially in the 200 and 300 range. KenPom has them ranked at #207 (#131 Offense, #294 Defense). SOS is #339, so on average, they haven't played many tough teams.

The Knights have a decent offensive profile, where they make more twos proportionately than even the Zags, and when they do make threes, it's at a blistering 40.4% (also better than the Zags)! They have five players averaging double digits in scoring, more than the Zags.

It's on the defensive side that they struggle, however, where their opponents shoot over 50%. They don't rebound particularly well compared to GU either, and they turn over the ball a LOT compared to the Zags.

Basic Stats / Four Factors:

Efficiency Stats:

I think the lack of effective defense on FDU's side should make the difference in this game.

Thanks for stats Cad :)
It surely looks like GU could rack up a few points. Zag D ought to give FDU fits as well. I hope we can really put a dent in FDU’s 3 point scoring. The Zags being able to effectively hamper a team’s 3 point shooting, I feel, will be quite important over the next few days/weeks.

They also only look six deep. Therefore we should be able to run them and use our reserves to tire them out

They've got a guy that spells "Xzavier" with an "X" AND a "Z"? Love it.
