No local media? Beyond coacherly cliches, some meaningful insight from local scribes? Anything?

Nearly nothing. And of the limited articles, mostly filled with Coach Bennett and SMC player quotes. Its like Jim Meehan and company are all trying to erase this stain, can't really blame em.

I've read exactly 2 Zag quotes over 5 or 6 articles:

1. Coach Few states (http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401121840), "It was our worst offensive game of the year, and give them credit for that.'' ya don't say...

2. Josh Perkins in post game press, "We will be OK. I'd hate to be the team(s) who have to play us in NCAA Tourney". I get the sentiment here, but really Josh? Where was the spark, leadership, savvy play, sharing, moving the ball?

Jordan Hunter says (http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401121840),

"We were told to pull off a miracle by people who don't know us,'' said Saint Mary's guard Jordan Hunter, who had 12 points and 15 rebounds. "We didn't need a miracle. We knew we could beat them.'' That was obvious. Fearless. Aggressive. Better.

None of the Pulitzers up there asked about Tils, lack of adjustment, refs, Norvell getting reined in, etc.?

We fell beyond flat, we fell concave. So, coacherly cliches from all concerned, even the scribes?

Times like this when you find out what you’re really made of. Been an easy road up until yesterday. Now, yesterday’s gone and we shall see what THIS Zag team is made of. It’s really a “character call.” The ‘16 ‘17 team, after the Home senior night loss to BYU gives is a great point of reference. Time and games will tell.

You got it, Jazz! They got their ‘you know what’ together and showed their mettle big time. Character personified.
Hope we see that again. It’s sure possible, even probable. The difference is that the ‘17 guys we’re an “older,”
more seasoned and I think more mature bunch. That’s not a put down of current players, just a recognition and acknowledgement that experience and “seasoning” have their benefits and that both take time.

We’ll see what these guys are made of now. It’s all about tomorrow, ‘cause yesterday’s gone, you can’t go back, what’s done is done and what’s gone is gone.’

Onward!

“It’s so sweet. I feel sorry for all those guys on the bubble right now. But we’re not!”

“We caught them on a little bit of an off night,” Bennett said. “Some of it was them. A lot of it was us.”

Not sure why we need an inquisition.... this is a 30 win team that had a terrible game against a team that was fighting for it's lives.

These things happen in sports, they will look at the reasons why and come out more motivated than ever.

Exactly. Such a vastly different performance w championship on the line. Hope all the optimists are right re: Zags will bounce back, be better, go on a run now just like Ď17 team etc etc but itís the way they lost and utter lack of fight or coaching moves that is so disturbing to me. Iím having a real hard time believing there isnít something else going on.

Exactly how I feel. It's not that they lost, it's how they lost.

Also, there were some arguments or bouts of frustration amongst the team last night. Some teammates yelling back, others walking away. Rui's special aired the night before on ESPN, and it was Rui who was having some minor spats with two different teammates last night. All speculation, yet I know what I saw, some frustration boiling out. Honestly, it could have been just the way the game was going, the 'heat of the moment'. Been there done that, but something was affecting them, likely the way they were playing.

Also, only a blind homer would say Perkins seemed fine or himself physically. I don't want to assume anything, but the fact was he grabbed and rubbed his surgically repaired shoulder a handful of times throughout the game. And he turned the ball over or stopped on a ball screen, dead in his tracks, when that same side was hit. Has Milehigh mentioned anything? Jim Meehan perhaps?

And then there are the Coaches. They looked just as frustrated and checked out, if not moreso. Was there a team meeting between Pepperdine and SMC games? Was it end of season performance review time? I know that really messes with the mojo of my workplace.

Very discouraging in many ways. I'm hopeful they will bounce back but are they capable?

Is it injury? Fear of injury? NBA is on their collective doorstep

Is there something they need to get off their chests and deal with as a team? Only they know that.

Thank u. Have no clue how I missed that. Makes perfect sense, as we suspected.

If Perkins would have sat this one out, NCAA Committee would have given us a free pass, imo.

But that isn't Perkins to sit. Hope he avoided any further issue and sincerely hope he feels better by next week.

When you view the replay, there were two instances where he drive towards the rim, only to be met and hit on right side, which caused him to throw the ball in the air immediately and he noticeably cringes afterward. Also, stopping dead in his tracks off ball screens he normally fights through.
