This weekend, Friday your time, former Zags John Rillie and Bakari Hendrix will square off.

Bakari has helped his team to two consecutive wins since he has joined the team. We will see what happens. If you cannot wait to hear the result from me, you can log onto www.nbl.com.au and you will find the result!

John,

We're pleased and honored that you've droped by. You've been mentioned in various dispatches in these parts the past few days, including the Greatest Shooters thread (http://www.guboards.spokesmanreview.com/showthread.php?t=6368&highlight=rillie).

I came across a couple of photos of Bakari recently, including this kind of fuzzy one of him as a Zag:

And a recent one:

Good luck to both of you this season. I hope you do keep us posted!

I've added John's blog (http://www.jronfire.blogspot.com/) to my daily internet rotation. It's fun stuff! Looks like John's caught NCAA fever (http://jronfire.blogspot.com/2007/11/college-tip-off-time.html)there too.

There is no doubting that I'm bias towards this system, but it granted me an opportunity that my home country could not offer. Life long memories and friendships were developed during this period for me, but nothing will ever match the basketball memories I have from my time spent in the USA.
So for the next 5 months I hope to provide you with some coverage of Aussies that you may not of heard of, but one day will be gracing the NBL courts, and you will have been introduced to them.
Nice.

In addition to Bakari, John mentions former Zags Paul Rogers and Axel Dench in his blog.

I don't think I previously posted this photo I found of Axel from the 1997 Top of the World Classic (http://alaskananooks.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/07-towc-all-tourn-teams.html), where Axel was on the all-tournament team (Matt Santangelo was MVP):

Here's a recent photo of Paul Rogers (left):

Zag fans might want to duck over to John's page on the NBL site (http://www.nbl.com.au/default.aspx?s=player-profile&id=635) and cast their vote for John as the player you most want to see in the Three-point Shootout at the NBL All-Star Game. Don't know if it makes any difference to John, but you know how we like plugging our Zags! Ballot is in the lower left corner, and you can vote as often as you like.
