I was under the impression that he was around 67; however, recruiting sites have him anywhere from 67 to 610? Most of those are on the higher end of that range.

Gonzaga Prep lists him at 6'8... but who knows? That stuff is fudged all the time.

I have a similar question for those who've seen him. I have only seen the highlights most here have seen.

He seems to be a very much above the rim type like Rui, is that correct? Is he a threat to take a man one on one and finish at the rim? Can he block shots a little like Clark?

I know he can hit a 3, since he made a game-winning one in the state tourney, but is he a good 3 point shooter?

I’m hoping he can play the 3 in college...AND make the 3!!!

I would say he’s every bit of 6’8”. Yes, he’s an above the rim type of athlete. He is able to create on his own from the perimeter but that’s an evolving skill. He can hit the 3 but I wouldn’t say that’s his game at this point. More so than Rui at the same age though. His greatest attribute is his bball IQ however. He’s a terrific passer. Anton will play many minutes next year and potentially be one of our best players right out of the gate imo.

How is he NOT a 5-star?

Politics jazz. He’s easily a top 10-20 player in this class imo.

He’s probably not quite done growing. I’m sure we’d need to measure him to know exactly. His frame is not like Rui’s, and I haven’t watched quite enough clips to know if he has a similar game or not.

A more explosive/athletic Pineiro?

At least from what I've seen, he is often used the same way. A true Hybrid forward and wing.

Time to move this thread to the Whelping Box?

While Watson's composite ranking is #44, the 247Sports guys have him at #34. That's barely outside of the 5 star range. I tend to trust the 247Sports folks more than the composite ranking. Not only do they have the best talent evaluators of any site on the net, they are also the only site who takes international recruits seriously once they commit. I am told that if Baby Shaq commits to GU, he is likely to be a 5 star with the 247Sports crew.

I think that’s a somewhat fair comparison. Anton has lottery pick potential though. Also, Anton very much has a frame like Rui. Maybe not quite as strong but not far off either.

From what I have seen, I think Elias Harris is a good comp.

better on the perimeter than harris...better handles and passing. also a longer smoother athlete, though maybe not quite as explosive (at least compared to freshman harris). might actually be able to play the 3 for zags unlike harris or rui.

Agree that he might be the first guy that size that can play the 3 successfully. A year ago in Tacoma, he looked to be in the 6'7-6'8 range, but apparently has grown.

Can shoot the 3 but imo is more likely to do most of his damage getting to the rim. The dunk on Riley Sorn was impressive.

Honestly, I'm not sure why the McDaniels kid is ranked so much higher . Anton is legit. He is rarely not the best player on the court no matter who he plays against.
