View Full Version : GU vs Santa Clara (Road edition) - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

01-20-2019, 08:12 AM
Heading down to the bay area to play Santa Clara. Will SCU adjust after the drubbing in Spokane or more of the same?

What are you hoping to see, expecting to see, thoughts? Predictions?

BTW only game this week! No Saturday game.

Have at it boys and girls!

OT --

Kinda odd we play both Santa Clara and USF twice before we play SMC for the first time.

NO INJURIES! More Petrusev.

Please excuse me for lifting this from a previous post of mine, but, once again, I can’t exorcise the thought that the Zags depth is like the Platte River, a mile wide and an inch deep.
What I’m trying to say, right or wrong, is pretty simple; If any ONE of our current starters, Tillie or Crandall gets seriously hurt and can’t play at the dance, our chances of going deep are greatly diminished. Each of these players is so critical and central to the teams success that the loss of any one of them would have debilitating impacts, at least for going deep.

I also think Petrusev could prove to be a difference maker at the dance, especially if he can provide quality minutes inside
off the bench.

Maybe this gets the point across better, God Forbid! Clarke goes down for the season. Where are we now?

NO INJURIES, Priority #1!

I'm hoping for a nice blowout victory for the good guys. Offensive efficiency and defensive intensity, enough to take the SC fans out of it early and get Petrusev and co. in with multiple minutes left in the game, and either hold firm or even extend the lead.

I think the Broncos will play better at home, after all, a recent full page ad said they are getting new digs down the road, but that doesn’t help them now.

Focus on turnovers, defense. More lineup experiments, prime minutes for bench — have 10 players to rotate. Dwindling chances to get meaningful minutes for bench players with starters.

I am hoping to see more cohesiveness in our offensive play, and I think I'll see just that. It's been 3 or 4 weeks now that Tillie and Randall have been playing with the team; so they should be pretty comfortable together now. I'd like to see seven players score in double figures again. That was pretty cool when they did it in their last game.

Go Zags!!!

SCU still plays at the Leavey Center, right? that place can get pretty hectic with the Rough Riders (Ruff Riders?) if SCU has any sniff of a chance

Zags take the defensive intensity to another level on the road. Still a little rough offensively in sets, but beautiful breakouts. Want to see Kispert continue getting to the rim, he'd be such a huge weapon if he could get his swag back.

I'm guessing more teams are going with a zone to slow the offensive machine. Zags need to crush it. Rui, Tillie and Clarke need to work a high low game. Perkins, Norvell, and Kispert need to be better on the 3 ball.
