I'm doing "okay" with point spreads, but continually underestimate our firepower, who'd have thought we'd put up 100 on the road against what will be a tournament, perhaps top 25 team from the B.East?

We must have Norvelle, though.

I hope to continue to see both Kispert and Jones doing well. It's great to have them playing well.
It was nice to see a bit more scoring by Perks against Creighton .... would like to see him get 20 in a game this season .... and keep up the assists.
I hope to also see Foster putting up some numbers. I feel he's looking a bit more comfy on the court each time out. It'd be great to have both he and Geno helping spell both Zach and Josh. Maybe let Geno/Foster play the 1st half then bring in Snax during the 2nd half to bury the competition ;)

I do hope to see some good play out of UW. It's nice to have all Washington teams doing well.

The Seattle sports writers and commentators don't talk down about us, they just ignore the Zags. Cute story but, really, come on, they play in some mid-major conference (not sure of the name), not the like the Huskies who play in the conference of champions and, therefore, are pretty much competitive with the Zags as long as they are .500 or so in the Pac-12.

I would love it if we built a 20 -point lead and emptied the bench, including Tillie and Crandall (they could just stand there in boot and sling respectively while three walk-ons dribble out the last minute).

Maybe they pick up some columnist articles from the Spokesman Review, but the Times definitely has some stuff about Gonzaga.

But...it is the Seattle Times. Spokane is on the opposite side of the state. They're totally obsessed with the Seahawks, they have UW football, the Mariners. There's only so many pages and they have their priorities.

I don't think this one will be close. The Huskies aren't that good. The Huskies got blown out by the only good team they've played so far (Auburn) and they've scraped out 3-4 point wins against San Diego, Texas A&M and UC Santa Barbara. The Huskies are not a top 25 team and this game is in the Kennel. Zags should win this one going away.

MDABE80

365 is correct. Zags are no 1 in the country and won Maui. One might think that would garner some attention and support. Nothing doing. Our voice Bud, has retired. He used to do what he could and he did a fabulous job. I suspect Times is supporting their UW teams for recruiting. What's been done is Spokane in beyond credibility. And has continued....but this year has so many story lines. One might imagine the No 1 team in the country might get some Seattle press. SO let's give em something to talk about. Zags by 20-50.

From one firsthand account he was limping after Creighton game... from another firsthand account he was moving quite well at the Women's game against Stanford.

Take that for what it is worth.

JMHO... I think it is a combo of both things. Probably a bit of soreness after a tough battle and all healed up in a day.

Until I hear something from GU... gotta think its nothing.

Foster is going to play another session with the starters trying to get him up to speed. Some neat stats on the play of Josh Perkins vs UW via gozags.com

AGAINST WASHINGTON:
- Josh Perkins is 3-0 in his career against the Huskies. He has totaled 29 points, 14 assists, seven steals in those meetings against UW, shooting 9-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.
- Last season at Washington, Perkins scored 14 points with three three-pointers, dished out eight assists to one turnover, and made four steals.

After Wither's story linked in another thread (https://en.bloguru.com/GloryHounds/338117/against-uw-zags-are-the-gang-that-always) I'm inclined to think I may have underestimated the Zags in my current prediction of 98-78. I'll stick with my first prediction though. Kool-Aid induced I might have gone with 108-68 ..... I have a feeling that the Zags won't necessarily cool down as much as they might work a bit on some new plays and/or go deeper into the shot clock on Wednesday night - and also get in a bit more floor time for the bench. 78 may still be a bit generous for UW excepting that Creighton was able to score 92 against the Spokane guys and UW has a good 3 shooter or two.

I think the game will be closer than many fans think. Washington has some pretty good players, and toughness down low. I'm looking forward to this test (test from the PAC12). I think the new Husky coach will have built toughness into his team by now. And that's a good place to begin with a new team. This match-up was once my fav game of the year. It's still one of my favorites but the most. UW really needs to get back to who they once were, and I think they will. It's going to take time, and I believe they will have a pretty good game tomorrow night.I'm the kind of fan who takes pride in being the best team in his state. We certainly have reached the top of that mountain, and I'm really proud of our team. And we are no longer the Little Engine That Could. The are now The Track Masters.

Outside of SCU and Eastern games, UW hasn't broken 80 points. Meanwhile Zags lowest output to date is 78 against Illinois. I gotta think if Zags start running and gunning then Huskies just don't have the firepower to keep up. I expect Zags to kill them with a ton of transition so they can't get into the zone D. UW 68I know any lazy passes up top will go the other way. 6'5 guard Matisse Thybulle plays the top of the zone really well. Averaging a couple steals per game with several tipped balls leading to easy buckets. He's prone to fouling but is always a pesky defender. If Foster or Ayayi are in they had better be watching out.

This is my annual split loyalty game since my undergrad degree is from GU and my graduate degree is from UW. But this year it seems like a no-brain decision to select GU over UW. I hope that after GU beats UW that both GU and UW go undefeated for the remainder of their seasons. Unlikely, but one can always hope. What if UW and GU met in the Final Four? Now that would be very uncomfortable.

I HATE the 8 o'clock games. I feel for those east of Spokane, But my bedtime is normally at 10 and I try to unwind so going to sleep is easier. The 8 o'clock starts won't let that happen.

At least with earlier games I can DVR them, avoid the internet and media, and watch them when I get home. Sometimes it's even better to fast forward through the commercials and much of halftime. With the 8 c'clock ones, that would mean almost a 20 hour delay. The suspense would drive me bonkers (at least a bit more).

Sticking by my closer than anyone thinks prediction as Huskies' experience, athleticism and supreme motivation to get a W vs Zags and right their season will bring out their very best.

Just wanted to add what nobody seems to have mentioned here: Rui is the perfect high-post player vs 2-3 zone with his ability to knock down that midrange jumper, drive or dish. I hope he blows up tonight and scores over 30 pts! Huskies game plan will be to get Zags' limited rotation in early foul trouble, so please watch the charges Rui while you decimate that zone D.

With you on the tipoff time angst, Willandi! I will stay up late for Thursday night games and just get through Friday at work on fumes...but can't do it on a Wednesday. I'll be DVR'ing and watching early AM before work tomorrow.

No one can watch a game with me. No. One., at least at home with my family.

I jump up clapping, which scares the dog who goes under the bed and hides. That's upsetting bc it's not like he's ever been hit or anything, it just creeps him out.

And everything anyone says pretty well bothers me so I don't engage in conversation.

Unless I go to a game, I am almost always alone, which is probably telling me something I need to learn.

LIZF - I am going to temper my total score down some.

I watch with my family... they tend to get a kick out of watching my consternation through the games unless they are blowouts. Honestly, I think the blowouts are a letdown to them as they don't get to see me get anxious.

I’m with Willani and Flex...this is definitely a DVR game...

When I’m home watching the game I can get excited on a great play on either end of the floor but for the most part, I just calmly watch the game BUT my wife, who is a Michigan Post Grad, goes absolutely nuts...she gets so wild that if she was in a bar (one in Spokane), she would most probably be asked to restrain herself or leave...if we had a weapon, she would surely shoot the officials for making an horrendous call! She has told me that if GU & UM faced each other in the FF championship game, she’d root for GU as UM has already won a NC...My wife Georgia is a fanatic!

I expect to see dominate on the boards, with both BC and Rui with double-doubles and CK & Snacks with five boards each...they will eventually have to come out of their 2-3 and play M-M defence...

I love your wife!

I also agree about them having to come out of the zone.

I have seen speculation on how the Zags will defend Dickerson (?), but none as to how UW will defend Clarke and Rui.

With 5 Zags in double figures totaling 75 pts, bench contributes thirteen more. Dawg's seniors, however, loathe to finish up their careers with another 20 pt blowout at the hands of the Zags, keep it closer than expected. Final GU 88 U Dub 71.

Placeholder for me. Predictions after this point are from serious procrastinators... not that there is anything wrong with that. :D

As I said earlier... predictions and are all good up through tip, product of procrastination or not.

So anyone that called this game being close, kudos. I didn't see that coming. Not really sure what the problem was but GU just couldn't pull away.

The problem was Norvell's foul trouble. After he hit a 3 you could almost feel him starting to get into his grove, but he quickly picked up his 4th foul and sat for a long period of time. Only Rui was playing well, so without that second scorer you knew it wasn't going to be easy.

Few needed this game to show his team what could happen if they don't play better against Tennessee and N. Carolina. Will be fun to see how they respond.
