SPOKANE, Wash. Gonzaga baseball coach Mark Machtolf announced the team's strong 2019 schedule on Tuesday, which includes 13 games against NCAA Tournament teams from last season.

"We are very excited about our 2019 schedule," Machtolf said. "Once again, we are going to give our players the chance to play on a national stage in the non-conference season, which will help get us prepared for a grueling WCC schedule. The environment at Texas A&M and Southern Miss will help get us prepared for the type of setting we will encounter in postseason baseball."

Among those 13 games against postseason qualifiers, GU will face reigning College World Series champion Oregon State twice, once at the Surprise Tournament (Feb. 15-18) in Surprise, Arizona, and once on the road in Corvallis, Oregon (April 30). In addition to the Beavers, GU will also take on another CWS participant in Washington with a two-game set in Spokane on March 26-27.

The Surprise Tournament kicks off GU's year for the third straight season on Feb. 15-18 with four games in Surprise, Arizona. The Zags will face 2018 NCAA Super Regional participant Minnesota twice, sandwiched around the OSU game and a tilt against New Mexico. Gonzaga played in the regional rounds at Minnesota last season, but didn't face the eventual regional champion Gophers.

GU's non-conference early season doesn't get any easier with a pair of trips south to 2018 NCAA Tournament teams Southern Miss (March 1-3) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Texas A&M (March 8-10) in College Station, Texas. The Zags then have games against the Pac-12's Stanford, Oregon and Washington State. Stanford and GU will face off once in Palo Alto, California, while Oregon and GU will go home-and-home, and the WSU series will feature two in Spokane and one in Pullman, Washington.

In the West Coast Conference slate, GU hosts three-game sets with BYU, San Diego, Pacific, San Francisco and Saint Mary's this season, while traveling for the weekend series against WCC regular season champion Pepperdine, Portland, Santa Clara and LMU.

GU is coming off of a West Coast Conference Tournament championship and subsequent automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Zags finished the season going 1-2 at the Minneapolis Regional and posted a 33-24 record on the year with a second-place finish in the league regular season.
